I remember seeing these types of clocks in my childhood. I remember one at my grandma's house when I was a kid and several other places all through the years of my childhood. I always thought they looked nice, and I remember they were always a focal piece above a mantal and sometimes above or in bookshelves. When I saw this, it brought back a lot of memories, and I was happy to finally have one for an honest review of it. It came with its own box. On the box it tells you how to put one AA battery in it and how to turn the small black dial next to the battery case in order to set the time. It has like a cherry wood color and the clock digits are all in roman numerals. The listing said it is made with real wood, and it looks to be. Although I don't believe it to be real cherry wood, but rather a lighter wood maybe that they then stained or painted. But you can't really tell the difference. It's the price, the fell of the wood. and something the listed said that tells me it isn't actual real Cherrywood. The back is a circler shape that has been cut out and it is held on by two pointer twist tabs. I don't know what these are actually called. But it is really easy to take the back off, put a battery in and set the time. The whole thing takes under a minute to do. And it is true it doesn't make any sounds when it is holding time. So, yeah, it looks exactly like it does in the listing pictures. I am enjoying the look of this clock. I put mine in the center and on top of my entertainment center as a focal piece. It looks really good there. It is one of the first things you see when you come through the front door. I get a feeling of nostalgia every time I look at it. And it is a good price.

I was so happy with this clock. I don't know what I was expecting but I didn't think it would be real wood, so that was a surprise. I ordered it with the intention of putting it in the guest room, but when I saw it I got "Cogsworth" vibes from it and I had to display it in my living room. If you've seen that movie you'll know what I mean. I love the letters on it, they're big enough to be seen without having to squint and it is completely silent. It runs on batteries so you can place it anywhere you need to because you don't have to plug it into an electrical outlet. It's very light in weight but also well built. You can zoom in the pictures to see it better. I'm not a photographer and I used my phone camera, but I try getting as much detail in as possible. This is just too adorable to pass up on. I think i'm going to love this for a long time!

We rearranged out bedroom and now have an electric fireplace across from the bed. I need the room to be dark so we removed our digital clock and were living with wearing our watches to know what time it was or duck around the corner to see the bathroom clock. Found this mantle clock and took a chance that it would be quiet enough and not cause insanity like Edgar Allen Poe's The Telltale Heart ticking away. This clock has a beautifully quiet sweep second hand instead of ticking off seconds. It looks very nice in our bedroom. It keeps time right well so far and is easy to read from across the room without my glasses. It isn't too big and not obnoxious too. I highly recommend this clock.

Wooden, well-made clock. Works on batteries and keeps time well. A bit small for a mantel clock, but the right size for my space. Smaller than expected, so be sure to check the measurements before ordering. Clock face is clear and readable from across the room.

I like this Mantel clock and is perfectly quiet. With quartz movement for precise movement and it is battery operated with two AA batteries (not included). The roman numerals are large and easy to see from a distance so you can see the time. My mother had one of these and I always remembered it fondly so I was happy to find this smaller version of hers. The wood is dark reddish like cherry wood and has some tree rings in it for definition. It is a lightweight engineered wood that looks like real wood. I am enjoying this clock for so many reasons.

I bought th is clock expecting a plastic replica of the vintage clock. It definitely is not plastic and other than the electronic movement it is just like what grandma had. I looked at it carefully and noted that. on the inside it has a rough grain that seemed just. like wood. The time, which is easy top set , seems accurate after the couple days I have used it.

This is a decent decorative clock for a bookshelf or smaller area. It is made from real wood, stained an indefinite reddish brown. Unfortunately, the finish is incomplete. It is stained but does not have a topcoat of varnish or polyurethane. The net effect is that the clock appears rustic (at best) The printed clock face is clear and sharp while the finish on the wood just looks incomplete. The AA-powered quartz movement keeps good time, but as a decorative product this is a poor imitation of the antique-style mantel clock.
