This kit is designed for the average typewriter owner who does not have any background in repairing or restoring typewriters, but who nevertheless wants to keep their machine in top condition. This typewriter care kit is designed to give even neophyte vintage typewriter owners the ability to keep their machines clean, lubricated, and running properly.
This care kit comes with simple instructions on how to keep your vintage typewriter clean, along with some basic supplies to do that. This kit is not suitable for deep cleaning or restoration, but will allow you to keep a working machine running. Note, to clean your machine properly, you'll need a basic solvent, such as window or all-purpose cleaner, for the case, or denatured alcohol to clean the keys, neither of which are included in this kit.

The products are great, however the little bottle of oil spills out of the tiny plastic bag it’s in. It stained the brush and had less then half the oil left. Recommend shipping bottle of oil in a different bottle/packaging

I read the reviews that mentioned the oil leaking through the ziplock bag it came packaged in. I assumed the business was aware of the multiple reviews that mention the leaking oil and corrected the problem. (I mean- we're talking about using a stronger ziplock bag, its not rocket science). Lo and behold, I open the kit to find the oil half empty and leaking all over the other items. It leaked onto the brushes and oil is the last thing you want on brush bristles that are meant to be used on typebars! The card is flimsy, cheap-looking, and in black and white - unlike the color pic in the description. It also got ruined by the oil. The rag was stringy and falling apart at the edges. It kept getting stuck on the emblems and sharp metal edges of the typewriter as I wiped. I was afraid it would catch on something and damage it (It is a 1930s typewriter so extreme care is required when cleaning but still, this is a kit for typewriters). The brushes are nice but again, both have oil on the brustles and handles. The wooden brushes are the only decent thing in the kit. Very disappointing! It's a shame the seller doesn't care enough to fix the leaking oil issue.

This is a great idea. Obviously packed with love. Both brushes are GREAT for their tasks, and the segment brush can't be found anywhere else. The generous cotton cloth is tightly packed in a teeny plastic bag. What spoils it all is the OIL. The tip leaks. And the cap was loose. It was in a plastic bag but so much oil leaked that even the outside of the bag was oily. Oil should ship in a sealed bottle, and the needle-tip should be separate until it is on the user's desk.

There was a picture with some clues, but helpful tips on what to use and where to use the brushes and cloth would have made for a much better product. I am cleaning a typewriter from the 50s and figuring out what to oil and where to put it is not easy. the picture was not at all helpful. The tools I needed were there, but I needed more help on using them.
