I bought several grooming tools. This was one of them. It is well made and easy to use. It was not too expensive either. It is easy to clean and most importantly, gets the job done. I would highly recommend.

I'd tried everything on my Yorkiepoos cotton candy hair knots, nothing worked without pulling her hair. As long as you don't try combing with it instead of kinda whipping it through her hair like you would beat eggs. So very glad that I ordered it.

I bought this after the vet's assistant showed me it and used it on one mat on our Maine Coon cat's fur. This cat is a bit cranky, and no matter how careful I am with it, he hisses and grows when I use it. I'm back to the furminator and a pair of scissors for this huge cat who is a lazy groomer.

Saw this item recommended on a dog groomers YouTube video. My doodle mats so easily, he is constantly getting shaved at the groomer instead of a hair cut. We committed to getting more serious about brushing and de-matting at home. I was a bit concerned it was going to be too small and take me days and days to demat. But I learned the small size is perfect for getting mats out in a way that does not annoy my dog. He's no fan of brushing of any kind, but this is unobstrusive enough, and cuts the hair in a gentle way, that we actually tolerates it. I also have a dematting brush that has longer tines, spread further apart, but that just doesn't get the mats. They slide right through. This is my second purchase since I left the first one at the dog park. Have missed not having it, so had to get another.

Being able to adjust number of blades is useful, but as you can see the handle popped out - after 3 months of maybe weekly use. Handle is great and ergonomic, but the blades dull quick as others mentioned. The best tool I've found? A utility knife with the hook blades. 100x cheaper than this thing, 90 dual side blades for $15 on here (so 180 blades total!). You definitely have to be more careful, but if you were already running this brush through like a normal one you probably shouldn't be using the tool, otherwise if you're careful you'll be fine with the utility knife. I'm trying to get a refund somehow on this brush that barely lasted 3 months.

My mother in-law brought home a free, nameless dog last year that we all warmed up to. Now that her fur is growing longer, she is in need of more than a comb and slicker. After looking through reviews and other available de-matting tools for dogs, I decided try this one along with a longer de-matting comb with 12 blades. At a glance, it looked promising but upon closer inspection, I noticed that the blades were dull. I was expecting sharper blades, especially since the amazon item description states that the tool's "Stainless steel blades cut through tough mats". Written within the caution warning on the back of the tool's packaging it also says, "The recessed edges of the blades are sharp."Not wanting to lose faith yet I decided to try it on our dog, Lucy. I combed through her fur to straighten/clean the coat and proceeded to use the tool as instructed. After about 20 minutes of trying the tool on lighter, thicker and everything in-between types of mats I have come to the conclusion that this tool isn't too bad. It is okay for light to medium mats but not for anything too thick. It works alright on Lucy's back and sides but the other 12-blade was needed to comfortably de-mat her hind legs. I decided to keep it for regular light grooming days as it doesn't seem to bug Lucy as much.

i guess it works, but the safety of this was a major concern. i wish it came with a type of safety feature or protection of the bladed areas when not using.

ok dematter, for small dogs only, only small areas difficult to get into, light weight, good grip.

I have two long haired cats, the female grooms well and only gets loose small matts occasionally, my male cat is a typical guy and rarely grooms at all and is basically at a point where he needs to be shaved. This tool worked fairly well on the small loose matt and yanked it out with only some discomfort from my cat. This does NOT work on tight, large, matts though. I even tried working from the outside in and my cat growls at me menacingly until he eventually bolts. I give this two stars. I also don’t really like that it is direction oriented and can’t go both ways without switching the blades. This can make it difficult to work different areas while sitting in a chair with the animal on my lap.
