2002 NB Miata 5MT 57k milesI noticed my shifter would stick to the left when I'd do the "neutral jiggle check". Open it up, and this bushing has a chunk taken out of the top15 minutes later and this new bushing is in. The fit is tight! But the result: wow. I didn't realize how much slop there was in my shifter with only 57k miles! I know this is just an oem part with no special sauce, but the shifter feels so much better. Popping out of gear into neutral is so crisp and smooth. Going into gear also has a more positive engagement.It's a cheap part and the install is quick. I think I'll do this every ~30k miles to keep my shifter feeling freshThe part is made of a hard Teflon. It's not just a simple cup. The cutout is actually spherical that really grabs the shifter nub. I had to lubricate this bushing and push ~15 lbs of force to get it onto the shifter.

This fits my 1991 Miata and the Cobalt Short Shifter I was installing perfectly! I would recommend putting some grease or transmission oil onto the shifter before installing since it takes some force to get it on.

Used this to renew my NA miata's shifter. Works great but a little tough to get on there.Tip:Lube it up with some trans fluid and then put it on the tip of the shifter, and then slam the whole assembly (carefully) down onto a stiff surface, like padded concrete or something. Trying to muscle this on by itself ontothe shifter was a waste of 20 mins.

My shift knob didn't even have a bushing on it. After cleaning and installing a rebuild bit (along with this bushing), The shift knob is solid and changes gears smoothly.
