Most preamps have phantom power already, but if you are using a mixing board or other device (like this one https://amzn.to/3QVBkK9) that lacks 48v for a condenser mic, this device is a simple and easy to use Godsend. The sound is absolutely transparent and doesn't raise your noise floor while opening you up to a much broader array of microphone options.

Pros- Powers off of standard USB-A cable and power adapter- Two channels of 48V phantom power- Built-in mixed outputCons- Very slightly different audio frequency response to my ears compared to going direct into my audio interface mic pre-ampThis is a great way to add 48V phantom power if your audio interface or mixer doesn’t already have 48V built in. 48V is needed for condenser microphones and is sometimes used with in-line pre-amps or signal “lifters†to amplify the low signal level of dynamic microphones. But this device alone won’t amplify dynamic microphone signals (like that of the Shure SM7B). But if you use this power supply with a “lifter†it can amplify the mic signal to compensate for a mic pre-amp that doesn’t have enough gain or amplification power.My audio interface’s mic input has 48V phantom power built in, so I compared using this external power supply to the internal phantom power. I felt that the sound was not as clean and transparent when using this external box, but it would probably not be noticeable unless you did an A/B comparison and listened for it. If you just need this as a quick fix to provide phantom power, it will work fine. But if you are going after better sonic quality, I would invest in a better mic pre-amp instead of adding a separate 48V phantom power unit like this one.

Had a reason to use this finally after a couple months. When I plugged it in, the sound comes through with no amplification.

Warning don’t buy this. Broken after a few use. It won’t work even if it’s on. Waste of money I tell you.

Not that good, had sound issues right away, my old newwer still works better. Buttons are very sensitive easy to hit on accident while recording.

Tut genau was es soll zu einem günstigen Preis. Kein Profi-Equipment aber für den Normalgebrauch vollkommen ausreichend für jedes Kondensatormikrofon.

Eine der positiven Eigenschaften, die mir sofort auffielen, ist, dass die MC2 sich wie eine DI verhält, um die Mikrofone mit Phantomstrom zu versorgen. Dadurch kann ich meine Mikrofone einfach und effektiv betreiben, ohne zusätzliche Geräte anschließen zu müssen. Das spart nicht nur Platz, sondern erleichtert auch die Verkabelung.Ein weiterer Vorteil ist der eingebaute gemischte Ausgang (mixed output). Dadurch ist es möglich, die Signale der beiden Kanäle zu kombinieren und sie gemeinsam über einen Ausgang zu führen. Das ist besonders praktisch für Aufnahmen, bei denen ein gemischtes Signal benötigt wird.Allerdings gibt es auch einen kleinen Nachteil zu erwähnen. Die mitgelieferten XLR-Kabel erwiesen sich als nicht besonders hochwertig und verursachten Nebengeräusche. Glücklicherweise konnte ich sie leicht gegen qualitativ bessere Kabel austauschen, was das Problem behob.

Das ganze kommt gut gesichert und schick verpackt. Optik und Haptik sind ordentlich. Mitgeliefert werden ein Klinkekabel sowie ein USB Powerkabel. Das Gerät wird mit 5 V Spannung betrieben und simuliert die Phantomspeisung für Kondensatormikrofone.Das mit gelieferte Klinkekabel bist nur schlecht oder gar nicht gestört, bei unserem Test hier zu Hause mit zwei Kondensator Mikrofonen hatten wir ein deutliches Brummen auf dem Weg zum Verstärker. Nachdem wir das Kabel gegen eines unserer Kabel ausgetauscht haben, verschwand das Brummen. Ansonsten tut das Gerät genau das, was es soll, es simuliert die erforderliche Spannung zu Betrieb der Kondensatormikrofone.Wir sind soweit zufrieden mit dem Produkt und würden uns wieder dafür entscheiden
