For only 30 dollars US, you can get some impressive macro pictures, even with a kit lens. Auto focus works just as well as it would without it, although my camera's auto focus (Sony a6000) struggles at such close distances since every slight movement of your hand throws things wildly out of focus. I would absolutely recommend if you want to dip your toes into macro photography on a budget. I would recommend using f/8 or f/11 if you can to get as much in focus as possible, and perhaps use a flash or another light source since at such fast apertures like f/2.8, its really difficult to get things in focus.

Is this going to make your non macro lens as good as a true dedicated macro lens? Probably not.Is this going to allow you to explore a new style of photography without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for a dedicated macro lens? Yes it will! The photos in my review were taken with my A7IV with the Tamron 20-40 with both extenders on, and a tube light to light the subjects. It was my first ever attempt at anything this close up, and honestly am pretty impressed!Note: if you have a lens that already focuses super close like the tamron can or a lens that has a high magnification ratio, this will only make it better. It definitely makes lenses with bad minimum focus distance better, but it won’t make it to where you can focus right up to things. Also, the electronics seem to work fine. My lenses seem to struggle a little finding focus but it does work… but I just use manual focus and find the focus by moving the camera body.

I don't shoot these in auto-focus. Auto-focus goes from being fast and nimble on my A6100 to slow and clumsy. Given the sudden change in focal area, that is to be expected.I simply throw the camera into manual, turn on focal assist, and shoot. Allows you to shoot a super shallow depth of field creatively. Nothing is wrong with these for the price point. Highly recommend if you are looking to shoot "macro" depth of field without spending a fortune on a true macro lense.

This extension tube kit is an excellent way to convert the Sony kit lens or a prime lens to a macro lens, but it's important to know what you're getting. This is not a lens, nor a pair of lenses. You are not getting any glass here. These are extension tubes only. They do not affect the image quality of your camera or lenses. As in computer science: Garbage In = Garbage Out. If you have a poor quality lens, sensor, or camera, these lens extensions will not help nor hurt you. If you have poor lighting, an unsteady hand, and refuse to use a tripod, you're going to have a tough time getting good shots. All this being said, if you practice a bit, you can get almost microscope-like shots with a standard portrait lens and without having to buy a dedicated lens.I'm not an expert on macro photography, but for some online reviews I do I needed to be able to take some "close-up" shots that border in the "macro" range. This inexpensive but relatively high-quality pair of extension tubes was perfect for me. I'm happy with the fit and finish, and the versatility the two-pack brings to my Sony 35mm prime lens.I don't think I'll use the pair of extensions together much because the depth of field becomes ridiculously narrow and the amount of light needed for a great shot increases a lot, but I like the 10mm and 16mm separately. I think I'll use the 16mm most because-- for my needs-- it's about the right level of macro.I've attached four pictures. Amazon may jumble the order a bit, but here's how they were taken in order (and you should be able to figure it out just by looking at the framing): 35mm lens only with f2.8, 35mm lens f2.8 with the 10mm extension, 35mm lens f2.8 with the 16mm extension, and finally 35mm lens f2.8 with both the 10mm and 16mm extensions.

I just got the Macro tube and went out and got a couple pictures of Boris the spider. He watches over the vegetable garden. He came right out from his hiding spot to pose for me. I am an amateur wildlife photographer and getting a good up close shot of the bugs was difficult. The quality is there I just have to get used to it. It is very touchy in the focal range but like I said I have to get used to it. Definitely would recommend it. Meike makes good quality junk at a reasonable price.

As someone looking to get into macro photography but not wanting to spend >$1000 on a lens, this set is perfect for venturing into the world of macro photography. I'm sure it doesn't beat an actual macro lens, but for the price it's pretty amazing what this thing can do. I didn't even have too much of an issue with exposure compensation, although I've mostly used the 10mm tube and haven't yet stacked them to make 26mm. I used it with my Sony a6000 and the 16-50mm kit lens and you had to get VERY close (haven't measured yet, but I'll estimate about 2 inches away) to get a focused image. Also, the depth of field is VERY narrow which makes it a little challenging, but after a few shots you get the hang of it. Despite these sort-of setbacks, I still find it super fun to use and I got some pretty awesome images for an amateur photographer. Pretty sweet deal.

These adaptors have been a game changer for me and have opened me up to trying new photography. I’ve been using them with my 50mm lens and have been getting great results. I was just booked for a photoshoot with a coffee shop and got some great close up images of the coffee beans and food items.

Wish I knew about these cheap adapters earlier. Helped us get our Close-up eye money shot.
