About this item

  • FACTORY INSTALLED PICKUPS: comes with three internal Piezo pickups that let you control volume and tone through a PA system or amplifier; turn up your sound in any venue and dial-in your tone
  • WHY IT MATTERS: cajons aren't naturally loud, so if you play with larger combos or in bigger venues, you'll need a volume boost to be heard; these pickups lift the ceiling of normal cajon applications so you can cut through the mix
  • HOW IT WORKS: the cajon is equipped with two sets of fixed micro-coiled steel cajon strings for snare effect; two pickups are placed near the strings and the other on the bass area to produce the most natural tone (you can play without using the pickups)
  • GO DEEPER: we craft the cajon body from Baltic birch wood, which also used in high-end drum sets for players serious about sound; then it's finished with a highly responsive makah burl frontplate
  • OF NOTE: the pickups don't require batteries to work; just plug into an amp or PA with a quarter-inch cable, adjust the dials, and start playing (cable not included)
  • ZOOM IN: there are two dials and two quarter-inch jacks; VOLUME: set your levels, TONE: adjust for more bass or snare, OUTPUT: send your signal to an amp or PA, LINK: join other Meinl Percussion passive pickup instruments through the cajon's system
  • BY THE NUMBERS: the Meinl Pickup Woodcraft Professional Cajon measures 11 3/4" W x 19 3/4" H x 12" D and weighs 9 lbs; its full size has enough volume for any room, and it's made to last with a solid frame that supports adults and children
  • THE BIG PICTURE: Meinl is a family-owned musical instrument manufacturer and brand established 1951 in Germany; our expert German designers have deep relationships with our builders to ensure you're delivered the absolute finest quality

When extra amplification is needed, dial-up your cajon volume and mix your tone with the Meinl pickup cajons. Available from the Snarecraft and Woodcraft Professional lines, these cajons are equipped with passive Piezo pickups for both snare and bass tone. Each cajon comes with a volume and tone knob so you can find your perfect mix. A quarter-inch cable jack allows you to send your signal through any amp or PA system (cables not included). Additionally, this cajon is equipped with a quarter-inch “link” jack where can link other Meinl passive pickup instruments through this cajon's system and control their output with the cajon's dials. This eliminates the need for additional amps or outputs to minimize your setup. Ideal for any plugged-in outdoor show, large venue or intimate acoustic coffee house set, the Meinl Pickup Cajon is extraordinarily versatile for any setting. Constructed with a striking makah burl wood frontplate and black Baltic birch body that produces a punchy, warm sound with depth and sensitivity. Internal fixed custom micro-coiled steel cajon strings are fitted to span against the playing surface to produce a snare effect that complements the cajon’s natural bass notes. Great for finger rolls, deep back beats or brush patterns. This cajon measures 11 ¾” W x 19 ¾” H x 12” D.

So I just discovered what a cajon is... So take this review with a grain of salt. It was very nicely packaged, no damage clean. I'm a shorter person (5'3") and I can sit on it comfortably and play. I think it sounds great. One of the reasons that I bought this model was because it seemed to have more range in terms of tones. I watched a couple of videos on how to play it and so far so good. The hardest part is learning to keep good posture. So if you're a beginner I don't think you'll be disappointed. I bought the one that had the pickups, and those work fine. Of course, the quality of your amp will determine the quality of sound to a certain degree. I jam with friends and I don't plug it in half the time and it's heard. Very happy with my purchase.

So easy to just plug and play right out of the box. I was tired of having to mic my original Cajon, and the mix sounded different all the time. This Cajon with built in pickup has made it super easy to just plug in and trust that the sound quality will be there. Definitely worth the money!

I bought and returned this due to entire Cajon face plate vibrates the snare. Personal choice, but I have a 2 snare Meinl that I bought several months ago and it did not have the entire face plate snare vibration. Just be careful and note there are differences to the snares sound. Meinl makes a great product so nothing against this model. It was just not the sound I wanted.

I like how this is made and how it looks. Decent, sturdy quality. The snare doesn't sound so punchy as I expect to hear. I expect thus is because I need to practice to get the best tone. I love how many different doinds and tones it can produce.I've plugged it into a bass amp and the sound is nicely muted - meaning it doesn't overpower, but rather has a more gentle accoustic tone. Perfect for what I see as the ideal use case - an accoustic set, not a rock band!

I have yet to be able to hook it up to a PA System yet but it has a great sound with my kick pedal with no snare buzz rattle. The top part provides a great solid snare sound and I love the smooth round edges . Thanks Meinl!

Certainly not worth the investment! This is amongst the most expensive cajon drums out there.. I was expecting some crazy good sound. It’s dull and stiff, it feels as if the wood it’s made of is too hard and sturdy. I hope I’m delivering my message right, however it’s certainly not advisable to buy as for the same money you can get more or save your money.

Franchement le systèmes de micros est anecdotique, la plaque de frappe est mal ajustée et trop épaisse. Passez votre chemin
