How do you remove a flywheel from a Mercury engine?
Insert a socket wrench into the bolt on the flywheel puller. Turn the socket wrench to the right until the flywheel comes off the crankshaft. If you cannot find a flywheel that is specific to a mercury you can use a universal flywheel puller.
When do you need to remove the flywheel on an outboard?
The flywheel on an outboard will need to be removed when repairs are needed such as the motor not starting properly. In order to access the crankshaft of the motor the flywheel will need to be removed from the engine.

I did not think this would work and meet OEM specs for removing the engine from the boat or removing the flywheel, but iit worked and fitted perfectly for an easy removal with the crane or just use the tool itself to remove the flywheel. This is a great ptoduct!!
