The old hydrant we had was broken on the very end where a lock could be put on it and was sharp. We put up with it for several years as it was here when we moved here. After seeing the cost for a plumber I decided to replace it myself and bought this hydrant which is the same brand as the old one. It wasn't difficult to install but took awhile to get it adjusted to where it completely shut off when the handle was down. Took several tries but eventually got it where it should be.

This head replaces a 15 year old head. Fits perfectly, just hope it's as reliable.

Replacement for the Merrill C 1000 that had been in service approximately 25 years.I have several of these around the property and they have all stood the test of time. But, [you must] make sure to lubricate the moving parts of the head assembly.I always keep a rubber plunger, replacement kit on the shelf, just in case. This one was puddling at the ground so I knew I needed to make (a slight adjustment). And, perhaps take the rod and plunger out.The reason I had to replace the entire head casting, is that the handles’ 7/16th bolt literally got frozen (rusted) inside of the handle. There was no way to get it out. I tried everything, including a very powerful catalyst, heating and drilling.Nothing doing. Broke the 7/16 head off of the bolt, rolled the nut back tight, intentionally broke it off, and then, I tried to pry the lift straps from between the head casting so I could bring the handle into my shop and into the vice.Â
! It cracked the head casting, and that was the end of that. So, as the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Lubricate, and use the right lubricant.

These worked great on our hose hydrants. One fed our trailer and the other was for the yard. They were very sturdy.

I had high hopes for this one and I rated it according to the feel and the build of it. I just couldn't use it as it won't work on the rod I have from a different maker. I didn't find that out until the worker came out to install it and that was after the return period had closed. Anybody want to buy a new in box hydrant head assembly?

This will save your outside faucets in the winter time. Only problem is castings are a bit tough around the components but works good.

Replaced my broken hydrant head. This was an exact match. Took less than 20 minutes to replace.

Easy to install, once you removed the old heady assy. I had to cut relief's intothe old head assembly, with a angle grinder for metal relief on the stem pipe. One does not wantto twist the stem pipe, and break at bottom where connected. It had not been serviced or replaced since 2005, whenit was installed new. Much easier than digging up the entire Hydrant assembly andreplacing. Once removed, easy replace. DIY saved me a couple hundred bucks or more
