I bought this model specifically because I needed a light weight machine that I can carry. I am impressed by the performance of this saw. I can see that there are a few design corners cut in places that are not important, to get cost down I suppose, but the rest of the saw seems very high quality. The hold-down vice is very handy, but cheaply implimented; it would be nice if it had bigger knobs.

I set up the saw as per manufacturer's instruction booklet. Cuts perfect mitters! . I am very happy with the results.Tool was not aligned out of the box, I guess they do that so the position stop pins do not get damaged during shipping transit.

Pros: Great jobsite saw. Light, easy to set up and use. Intuitive controls.Cons: These saws go through brushes quickly. Best to keep a spare set on hand. Also, the smaller blade and enormous guard make it almost impossible to see where you are cutting with compound miters without removing the guard. Lastly, micro adjusting miter and bevel angles is very challenging, especially around the detents.

This saw is impossible to make a straight cut with! Very sticky glides. O + 45 degree positive stops are NOT accurate! Nothing like it's Hitachi predecessor! I will never buy this saw again

Well made, High quality, easy to adjust. Love the pin stops at 90 and 45°. If you want a wider angle, just pull the pins (they remain captive just push them back in). I didn’t realize how important a high spin speed is for a clean cut. This saw gets up to speed quickly and spins fast. wonderful.

I’ve been a carpenter for 26 years now and have used ALOT of miter saws. I had the model before this one with that stupid bendable flashlight that’s ridiculous looking by the way and it was impossible to dial in for accurate cuts. Some time later I was working with a guy who had the same saw and showed him it couldn’t be calibrated. Sure enough after years of using it, he saw his cuts were all off (not sure how he never noticed but he’s a framer so that explains that). Anyway, that being said…this saw CAN be calibrated. I’ve had it for months now and haven’t had to recalibrate it. Still cuts true and is very lightweight. I didn’t get the one with the laser because that’s a gimmick for homeowners and weekend warriors. I never trusted them and never will. It’s a waste of extra money in my opinion. Just sight the blade and use you speed square to make test cuts or “inch” your way to the line. My ONLY gripe is the brake sometimes doesn’t work. It’ll go longer then it should. Doesn’t always happen but it DOES happen so be mindful of that. I know the brushes on these are notoriously crap but time will tell I guess. Cheap and easy enough fix. Overall for the price it’s a great saw. I wanted to get the Makita version but they think their saws are made of platinum and raised EVERY model a couple hundred bucks. Nobody else did that. Not even Festool. For a miter saw that can rip 1/2x12 and has a small profile, this saws worth. $300 all day.
