We have a translucent plastic cover on the microscope that has a couple tears and which no one really likes having to put back on due to the fragile nature of the cover. This cover is much more durable, and is of a medium weight so it practically can stand up on its own when not covering the scope. This weight also makes it easier to put back over the scope which is the whole idea of having a cover in the first place - to use it! Very happy with this cover.
