The FM133 Pin Lock helps provide security and peace of mind by preventing a gate opener arm from being removed or stolen and allowing unwanted access to the property. The Pin Lock substitutes for the clevis pin at the front end mount of all models of GTO/Mighty Mule swing gate openers, and it does not allow the clevis pin to be removed from the gate without a key to the lock. The pin lock comes with two keys that will allow quick release of the opener when needed.

We actually use this as a gate lock in our 6’ fence gate - much better and easier fit than a traditional lock to place through the latch. Great value, easy to place or remove!

They work exactly as described. The only problem I have is that any gate will have a need for four of these locking devices (one on each end of the gate operating bar) which means that you have four keys. If they would offer the option like some locks, do you where one key would open multiple devices It would be easier to manage.

These pin locks are necessary for gates. Although they do not provide a great deal of security, without them there is no security because the whole arm mechanism for the gate can be removed in less 30 seconds by pulling out the cotter pins that are used. I have now used these locks on two different company's products and three gates. There are quite a lot of other similar locks that will also do the job, but in reading the reviews, I decided on these, because I have used them before and did not have many problems.What problems did I have? The most important one to note is that it comes with simple generic keys. Maybe there is more than one, but all the ones I bought have the same key. If someone buys one of these, they can open all such locks. The physical problem I had was that they can rust out, and will not open with the key, so that can solve the first problem. I had to cut one of mine off, but the others responded after putting some penetrating oil in them. On my other gate, I had used a newer lock and put in WD40 right away when installing it, and put more in every year. I had no problem opening that lock with the key. So, it is advisable to put oil in them from the start especially if you live in a wet environment.

Personally, I put this pin lock on the motor end, not where instructed. It adds more security to the motor arm in my installation.

The locks don't appear to be the strongest, if someone really wanted to get the gate opener off, they could probably break these locks without difficulty. However, they do offer some deterrent and should prevent 'opportunity' mischief. I haven't had the locks for too long, so it will be interesting to see how they hold up over time.
