I stepped out on our front porch this morning to check the temperature (31*F), and there was the package with this vise; impressive delivery time! This is my second attempt at getting a small table-top vise I can use to hold an arrow while I saw the nock notch prior to fletching it, the first one was much too heavy for my kitchen table. This one is exactly what I need; it is very similar to what my father had when I was a lad 60+ years ago. However, the one he had was made in the USA, and compared to this article was like a Bulova watch compared to a Timex. Both get the job done, but one is a lot smoother and longer lasting than the other.When I took the vise out of the box, the knob for the table clamp was not attached to its screw shaft. I tried pushing it on and it slipped right into place but just slipped on the shaft when I turned it. The splines on the shaft look good; the hole in the knob is so large does not show any sign that it was able to engage these splines. I didn't want to send it back quite yet so got out the Loctite GO2 gel adhesive, cleaned the knob and shaft with alcohol and glued them together. The glue is curing now, we'll see how it turns out. I also greased the screw threads with some petroleum jelly to make them easier to turn.Other than the knob problem, this little vise should work fine for my needs. A little better quality control at the factory is called for but considering the price I am a happy camper.
