Your cart is empty.This miniature magnetic base is one of the most compact and economical magnetic bases available today. It has an anodized aluminum upright attachment piece and a powerful rare earth magnetic base with 40 pounds of holding power. It is compact measuring just 1-1/4 inch high and 1 inch in diameter. The upright attachment piece contains one mounting hole tapped with 1/4-20 threads. This compact magnetic base will accommodate dial indicators with a lug back and ensure they stay in place for accurate measurements. A dial indicator can pivot a full 170 degrees.

I tried this base on a job I was working on where I had a compact area to work in and it worked out perfectly for my application. I like it so much had to get another. The base is about 11/4 size in diameter and about 1 inch tall. It is a very strong magnetic base so no need to worry about the indicator moving. Simply made. 1/4-20 bolt holds the indicator lug. Just add a washer to it, it will save the lug.

These work great to position a dial indicator on a lathe or mill. Pretty strong magnet and gets into limited space.

Small and has a strong magnet. I'm sure it works well for lug back indicators, and I might use it for that in the future.If the base was just a little larger in diameter, say 1-3/8", with twice the surface area and friction, it would be perfect.I found it did not have enough resistant to twist for holding an indicator located to the side. The base is very small and just barely doesn't have enough friction to resist the torque. But all is not lost! The nice thing is the provided lug is attached to the base with a screw, so you can easily modify it, or make your own special lug for your application.

This item was a simple way for me to set up a dial indicator to micro-adjust my table saw fence when precision trimming parts to fit. It has plenty of holding power, and is made of quality materials. I've been using it for several months with no issues.
