Recently bough a used BMW X5. I replaced the rough and loud run flats with high performance non-RFT tires. I prefer the quieter ride and better handling than the run-flats provide. That being said, i needed a compact spare tire for emergencies as i put alot of miles on my vehicles on frequent road trips. I found the Complete Compact Spare Tire Kit w/Carrying Case from Modern Spare and it had everything i needed. A well designed heavy duty compact spare, a jack designed to carry the weight of my SUV that fit in the BMW jackpad slots and a heavy duty lug wrench for changing out the flat tire. All of this in an easy to carry stowable bag made of heavy duty material. Best of all, it fit right in the storage compartment of my X5. Out of sight, but not out of mind... i know this spare is safely tucked away there until i need it!

This spare Tire and Wheel fit like a glove.I haven’t had to use it on the road (thank God) but I wanted to make sure it fit perfectly before my out of town trip.All of the tools I needed to change the wheel, were included. The jack seems to be very high quality and lifted my SUV with ease.As you can see in one of the pictures, the space between the body of the car, and the handle for the jack, was perfect. Tools will not scratch the body.Another photo shows the height difference between the spare and the tires I run on my car. The spare Is about an inch smaller in diameter. I’m not sure the spare would fit into the trunk space, if it was an inch larger in diameter. The Tire and Wheel fits perfectly in the spare tire space, provided by the BMW factory.My only wish would be that the kit would have come with the threaded rod to hold the spare in its compartment, in the event of a wreck or roll-over.My BMW was sold new with run-flat tires. It was still equipped with run-flats when I purchased it used. My vehicle has a carpeted spare tire cubby. BMW SUVs that were sold with regular tires, come with a spare tire and an uncarpeted spare tire cubby. My carpeted space has a threaded “nut†for the rod. I plan to get the correct thread size and purchase a piece of all-thread, long enough the rig a “tie down for my spare.Cost: I called my local BMW dealership and priced a BMW spare. They priced the spare tire, the jack and the tie-down rod. It was $1,300 I don’t believe that includes the lug wrench. I priced a 17†wheel with a narrow tire (it would have the same diameter as this reviewed spare) …still more $$. Plus I would need to carry a desperate wrench to fit the lug nuts.Final thoughts: these spare tires aren’t cheap, but I wasn’t able to find a cheap solution. I even checked salvage yards in my area. This spare is less expensive, in my search, to buying something new from a local tire shop. I feel confident with the fit and quality of this spare, and that is all that matters for our safety, if I someday need to use this spare while traveling.

This is a great idea, put all you need for a flat tire in a bag with a nice handle. I tucked some Amazon packaging around the hub spacer to make sure no rattling. Wheel looks so much cooler than the lame stock spare tires. I have run flat tires but they only go a few miles when flat. I travel on the freeway between states and don’t want to get stuck in the middle of Montana on a run flat tire. Everything seems to be high quality. If I ever need to use it I can leave a real review. BUT I have confidence now.

Changing from run flat to non rft, and will definitely need a spare tire. I'm glad i found your page. It is what i am looking for, NOT like a donut tire. Same diameter as my stock tire. Perfect!

My 2017 BMW X5 had run flat tires. They were stiff ride that telegraphed road noise. I was researching tires to replace them and found out that the run-flats were expensive, so I went to Michelin A/S radials and bought a spare tire for less money than the cost of the run-flat tires. Tires feel good, grip good, less noise and I have a great spare tire kit from Modern Spare. It has the tire mounted on the wheel, with a jack, 2 sochets and a breakover. Makes me feel secure about the vehicle in case of a flat.

After receiving used the kit as if l had flat to make sure it had everything needed it was perfect put it back in the bag and in the car where it belongs.... get one for peace of mind
