I had more than my fill of snakes as a Marine combat ground infantryman in Vietnam 1966-67. We were winning when I left! Anyway, that's another story. I found this little item to be perfect as a "Curtain Sweep" for our draperies in our living room. My wife uses this to extend her reach over the sofa to gain control of our sheer draperies in order move them to one side of the sofa. This creates a cascading effect when both sides are done. As you can see from the picture, our two medium-size dogs just love looking out the window and barking at anything that moves! Bottom line: This rod extends and retracts very nicely, and I am very pleased with this product. I apologize, but I can't verify its quality when handling snakes. But this rod seems quite solid and, like I said, it's perfect for my requirement. I very highly recommend this item due to its quality craftmanship; it is not flimsy in any way.

I use this hook to reach my bird feeders from the window. It works perfectly for this job! I have never used it to catch a snake and don't expect too...

I bought this because I recently own a few pet snakes. I have a hard time bending over, so I figured I use this to pick up my pet snakes from the ground or to set them on the ground. My snakes are heavy and I noticed this item would bend as I used it. A few days after I bought it and used it. The item fell apart. I noticed the clips holding it together fell out and the item fell apart.

Very thin and flimsy. Save your money. In retrospect the telescoping feature is not as important as strength. For those that remember collapsible tv antennas or rabbit ears this is the exact construction of this product.

I like that it's lightweight but, I don't like that I have to be very careful when using it because it may break because of it's lack of sturdiness n strength.
