Didn't go for the knockoffs, even though there cheaper and you get two. I'm not saying they would not have worked, but wasn't worth taking a chance. Been down that street before where maybe there's a notch that should be there and wasn't and so on. Took a minute to install with common tools. No more leak. Also, turning the faucet on feels so smooth, I can't wait for the other one to leak. Good luck!

I had meant to get a replacement from Home Depot, and was disassembling the entire faucet before finding the instructions online to get the old one out - really, you just remove the faucet handle by removing a little set-screw, then remove the top collar that holds the cartridge down and use a pair of pliers to pull up on the stem. Oh yeah, turn the water supply off first!I got a cartridge from Home Depot that looked similar, for about $9, but it was just different enough that all I got was a trickle in the full-on position. So I ordered this one for a couple bucks more, it arrived quickly and now that I know the 'trick', installed in about 3 minutes. Faucet works perfectly now.However, based on the condition of the original cartridge, which leaked almost from new, I'll wait to see vis-a-vis durability on this replacement. It looks like perhaps the over-pressure situation my house suffers from (need to put in a pressure regulator, I know) caused the plastic cartridge housing to flex enough that the metal valve allowed leakage around it - I can see stress cracks in the white plastic.Then again, perhaps if I had normal or low water pressure, that wouldn't be a problem, so I'm giving this a 4-star rating - if it fails soon, I might drop to a 3...Thanks,Blaine

Cartridge was wrong size but Amazon was great about return.Contacted Moen, with model number, and even they were not sure re what cartridge was required. Moen sent a 1248 cartridge, free of charge, and it fit just fine
