My husband and I tackled replacing our fence ourselves. The gate was our biggest fear; making sure it was straight, and hanging it because they are heavy! We happened to be at our local HD store when we saw these gate kits. They wanted something like $70 for them and my husband was reluctant. I checked on Amazon as soon as we got home and I found this one for a fraction of the price. It had higher reviews than most others. We cut the wood only to find out that I didn't factor in the bracket sizes. Anyway, on the second try, we were able to get the measurements perfect. Hung the gate easily by propping it up with a 4x4 and extra fence pickets. I had read reviews about the screws being short, so I made sure we bought longer screws. I used 4" deck screws. We put the pickets on after we hung the gate to make it easier. It twisted a little bit and I think that may haven been from the bottom bracket not being installed perfectly straight. I screwed a small piece of a 2x4 to the bottom of the adjacent post to stop it and that did the trick! Wala...perfect and works great! I like that you can't see the hinges from the front either. Makes it streamline. Highly recommend.

Great gate kit. I like how the hinges are welded in place. Makes this so much easier.this gate will last forever.

It came well packaged, was simple to make the gate. Except for the pickets on the front I was able to build the gate and side fence panels with scrap wood I already had. Hinges are great, but the gate latch could use some improvement, I will probably replace that eventually, but it works just fine. I would recommend this kit for anyone to make their own gate without having to hire a carpenter.

I used this gate bracket set while building a small shed for trash cans. The brackets are very sturdy and come with 1.5†screws, but used longer screws for mounting the assembly to the outer door frame.As others reported, the welds on the brackets are a thick bead in the corners which don’t allow for a square 2x4 board to sit tight into the bracket (see two pictures). I was able to help the 2x4 into the corners by first banging the corner of the wood on the pavement a few times to round one corner, which accounted for the added bead of weld in the metal bracket corners.The doors I built are roughly 3 x 4 ft (see one picture). This bracket system initially appears to be supporting the weight. No sag, staying level.Given the build quality and great price, I would plan to buy this kit again in the future. Will report back if anything changes.

We had a friend build a gate for our deck because we have a dog we want to keep safe. Friend built a rickety gate that sagged and dragged, with pickets that were cracked, and the whole thing swayed. Wish I got a photo of it before I took it apart to depose of. Unfortunately, I think our old friend is losing it.I had suggested this kit several times but the men did not listen. Every day I hated that rickety gate. So I ordered this anti-sag gate kit and bought some 2x4 and premade pickets. I built the new gate myself but needed help hanging the gate. Husband was very impressed with the quality of the final build. I was worried that I would need a wheel to support the gate because it was around 40 pounds when done. But I read the comments and many reviewers said the hinges were strong and it turned out the hinges swing easily and seem very sturdy.You may notice that my gate is not level, but that is not the kit’s fault. The post that the gate hangs from is not straight and is wracked. Someday that post will get replaced and then the gate will hang straight.I did have to buy screws for the pickets for the depth into the main frame. And we did use those longer screws to hang the gate at the post. Also, you have to purchase your own latch, which makes sense because your gate may necessitate a different kind of latch than what I used.A minor thing was that I had to nip the corner edge of a couple 2x4s because the welding hindered the wood from getting pushed in square in 2 instances.I love my gate.

This kit was able to stabilize my gate. Very ease to install and fixed my issues with gate. Made of quality material.

I have used an American version of this product several times in the last 10 years. They make very sturdy gates that really resist sagging so I highly recomend using this type of product. My comparison will be to the one I used in the past that was very sturdy and could be installed without any modifications. This one required shims on the hinge side, which worked ok, the welds will probably hold up well enough but not nearly as nice as the previous one I used. By the way I could not find the brand I used before which I purchased locally, sorry I dont remember the name, it was about the same price but that was a decade ago. The worst part of this kit- the supplied screws are drywall screws, really? Don't use those, I actually laughed out loud when I opened them. Anyway, it will work fine
