This is a great item. Directions are very easy to follow, honestly it couldn't be easier to use. I recently had a leak in my roof and was very concerned about mold. I collected samples from outdoors and in 3 different rooms in my house. I was sceptical at first as there wasn't any growth the day after collecting the sample. There was growth on day 2 and by day 3 I was able to identify the species in the Petrie dishes. Fortunately there was no harmful mold in any of the samples. I highly recommend.

The detailed identification guide included in this kit was extremely helpful in identifying different types of mold. Very impressed with the level of detail provided.

We got this to test our water bubbler and replicable jug lids. The process for direct contact testing is simple - take a swap, run it over the test surface, wipe that in the petri dish, cover and wait. Unfortunately, the instructions to do that are gibberish. The swab doesn't go back in the bag. You don't wait for 48 hours and then seal the dish with tape.The instructions for an air sample are better. I appreciated they made the suggestion on doing two tests - one inside your home and one outside - for comparison. I don't know if I would have thought of that.So, the mold grew. Two different types from two different areas. But what type of mold is it? The pictures in the instructions didn't match ours. I search on the interwebs and found it is very difficult to tell, especially with white-ish molds.The instructions also have (bad) advice on how to get rid of mold in your home. I would not follow those instructions if you really have a problem. Find a home air quality expert and get a second opinion.

I bought these plates following the instructions and after five days they threw this and it does not match any of the photos that come in the identification book, I do not recommend buying them because you do not get what you are looking for, you just waste your money in vain, This would basically be anything

We ordered because we had a vapor leak behind our shower head that was causing some mold/ mildew. The issue was cleared immediately after identifying & the kit wasn't used. But it is a great thing to have on hand, just in case.
