This is a great controller for stairway lights with a lot of configuration options and support for multiple kinds of strips. It's easy to configure and connect up and includes both a daylight sensor and two heat activated motion sensors for the top and bottom of the stairway. I have tested in it on my bench and have been quite impressed, but it will take a longish time for me to set this up for real. Two types of strips are supported: color LED and single and they all work as described. I personally don't like color options so went with a warm white set of strips which is very pleasing, and the brightness can be controlled to improve both the longevity of the LED strips and be easier on your eyes at night. There are only two concerns I had with this controller: (1) this is maybe minor, but I wish they had used and LCD instead of OLED. I feel like the display will burn out because it doesn't seem to automatically turn off. (2) Whatever power you plug in needs to 100% match the strip you use. It won't step down the power for a 5v strip (which I found out by exploding a strip instead of using a multimeter like I should have). If you have a 12v or 24v power brick, make sure you have 12v or 24v LED strips.Bear in mind that you will need a power supply, I recommend a power driver specifically for LEDs (usually called an LED driver) which will ensure adequately handled load. You will also need to do some basic math when purchasing the power supply to ensure it can run all your LEDs.4/5 - Requires some domain knowledge to setup currently and unknown lifespan of the OLED panel without another way to configure it. Existing issues pointed out in the review are easy to work around, but overall, it's a n awesome little controller at the advertised $60 price and right now there's a $10 coupon as well. It's way cheaper even than building your own controller.
