How to Test Your Battery?
1- Choose Battery Test Mode
1- Quick Test Mode - Testing directly.
2- Standard Test Mode - Select the battery types and models.
2- Select Battery Type
In the Standard Test Mode, select the same battery type as your battery. Refer to your battery rating lable for details.
3- Select Battery Model
In the Standard Test Mode, select the same battery model as your battery. Refer to battery rating lable for details.
4- Get the Testing Result
Get the testing result in seconds, including voltage, Internal Resistance, State of Health and Stage of charge.
How to Test the Alternator?
Start / Cranking Voltage Test
Connect the tester with the battery and Start the engine to test the alternator's start voltage. Display the testing value and result directly.
Alternator Charging Voltage Test
Turn the headlights on for 3 seconds and then off. Keep engine speed above 2500 rpm for 3 seconds, then press“OK”to test.
Real-time Output View
Enter the Wave option to view the real-time output voltage of the alternator or the battery output.

Thus is a pretty good tester for the money. It's pretty straightforward and seems pretty accurate. My car started cranking slow in the cold weather, my battery tested poor. I replaced the battery, trickle charged the old one, and tested it again and it still tested poor. Good enough tester for me.

MOTOPOWER MP0515A 12V Car Battery Charge Tester and Alternator Analyzer.Great tool to have, easy to use, very accurate and the save images and print feature are a real bonus to have.As a previous poster noted about Costco batteries and this tester being wrong,the batteries may be bad, I have gone through 2 Costco batteries, this tester reported the SOH at 33% and sure enough the batteries failed requiring jump starts, all within 2 years of warranty.FYI, if you want to know if the battery or alternator is bad, use the wave function,if you see ripples in the waveform and the battery health is low, replace battery and test again,If the test with the new battery is clean then the old battery has bad / shorted cells.If you still see ripples, then further tests are needed for the alternator. Would recommend this product, Great tester, Good seller.Updated 10/30/2024

I used this for my truck and it told me how many CCA were left, life of battery, current voltage which confirm my battery was bad. Changed the battery and tried it out on the new battery which gave me a perfect reading. You can check your alternator with this as well. Works awesome!!!!

This product works just as I needed. My car battery was 6 years old, and was a little slower to start this winter. This meter accurately indicated the performance of my old battery, and validated my intent to buy a new battery. It is charged by the subject battery itself which is very convenient.

Ha dado resultados coherentes con los del taller, y cada vez que lo pruebo los resultados son bastante similares. De momento solo estoy vigilando la baterÃa, ya que tuve una descarga (*) y ahora no confÃo mucho en ella a pesar de ser de marca "premium".Creo que por el precio funciona todo lo bien que cabe esperar, o incluso mejor.(*) se me descargó porque no pude mover el coche en 2 semanas, y ahora mi baterÃa se ha muerto aún arrancado y haciendo kms varios dÃas. No recomiendo una baterÃa Varta a nadie.En el pasado me han ocurrido cosas similares, y aunque se que las baterÃas se dañan, no se han muerto directamente como esta.El medidor por cierto, ha ido acertado plenamente con la evolución de esta baterÃa moribunda.
