Got this for my wife's 2012 Ford Escape Limited V6. Worked like a charm! The left side where the half shaft goes into the tranny was leaking due to the bushing and seal being worn. Problem fixed! It's been about a month with no leak. There's no need to use the boot unless the old one is torn. It'll save you time and the headache of trying to install it. Save it for when you need it.

This was the exact part/procedure I used on my 2009 and 2011 (other) Escapes. Pretty easy install with one exception. The metal sleeve you need to extract (or should) technically requires a Ford tool to remove. I used a 3 claw puller from Autozone - it can get just small enough to do the job. I used a rubberband to keep the jaws together and so they would spread evenly. Next, I tested the amount of spread on the jaws to make sure they would open just enough to catch the inside of the sleeve ONLY. Put tape on the threads and make a mark so you get the perfect number of turns to get the fit. Note that if you are not very careful, you can catch a lip on the inside of the trans and do damage to the (soft) aluminum. Take your time to get it perfect and the sleeve will come out nicely. I received this half shaft kit and as others have posted it was rusted on the micro polished part of the half shaft and on the sleeve. The two parts are critical in the repair. This whole kit is designed to fix a common problem of the sleeve getting chewed up by the half shaft. When that happens fluid poors out of the transmission. This parts kit is designed to fix this factory flaw but when they arrive pitted and rusted especially the two main parts its useless. Doesn't sound like a big deal but you can't get the rust off without damaging the micro polished half shaft or the Teflon coated sleeve. Amazon should stop the sale of these until they figure out what's going on. To all customers order from your local dealer!

Very good product, I'm driving a 2010 mercury mariner 4 cylinder with a 6f35 transmission Used YouTube for an instructional video on how to do this. Fixed the leaking transmission problem very good product. Been on for about 5 months and about 10000 miles no problems. Recommend this if you have a transmission leak on the drivers side.

This joint and stub will not work on any other axel assembly except the TX559.I went to do the job on my 09 Ford Escape and it seems that the previous owner had replaced the CV axel with a different axle assembly. The entire axle assembly for an 09-12 Ford Escape or Mercury Mariner is the TX559! That being said I had to order a $140 TX559 axle assembly BUT I need the bushing and seal so I cannot return this kit.I'm leaving a 2 star review because Motorcraft is lacking lots of information in this listing and does not provide a alternate kit with only the bushing and seal. Also the sirclip to hold the roller tripod on the shaft is missing holes so it will not be a fun removal process in the future.
