I used this sensor to replace the pcm temperature sensor on my 2000 Explorer. It’s a direct fit, and replaces the sensor on the passenger side of the thermostat housing. It doesn’t thread in all the way on my vehicle, just like the oem sensor, but it’s secure and doesn’t leak. It’s been installed for a few months now and works fine.

Corrected false gauge reading. Very easy to replace on 4.6L in '99 Mercury Grand Marquis. Remove engine shroud, unplug connector (other side of alternator across from thermostat housing), remove with 6-point 19mm deep socket (just clears connector). New one comes with sealer on threads, snug it up and plug it in. On my car the sensor was at the highest point in the cooling system, so no coolant leaked out. Projects don't get much easier.
