Milling targets is no longer a primary method and skill for estimating range to a target. The math leaves plenty of room for error at extended ranges. Example: target size 72 inches multiply by a mathematical constant of 27.777 comes to 1999.944 now divide by target size in Miliradians. Example 2.1 mils yields target range 952.4 yards. But use 2.2 mils and get 901.1 yards. Depending on cartridge and wind, this is enough to cause a miss on a critical shot. Laser Range Finders are king, but the legacy skill is nice to learn. I have played around with this MilDot Master. It's very accurate from a mathematical point of view and it will save you from mistakes under pressure. The problem is that the math itself doesn't yield enough accuracy. If you want to learn the old ways, then by all means, buy this. But if you're in a hurry and need the most precise range estimation available, this ain't it. Like I said, this is a legacy skill that is no longer the primary nor best method, but it's a great skill to learn in case your electronics fail when you desperately need them. Plus, the included drop chart probably isn't going to work with your system. 2 identical rifles with identical hand loads can still have very different muzzle velocities which means that a drop chart can only be made by you for your scope/gun/load combo and only on your atmosphere conditions. -Overall: Would buy this again but completely unnecessary and the drop chart is useless.

Don't buy this. The MRAD Ruler tries to be a copy of the MilDot Master but it is poorly executed. The insert is too loose which slows easy slippage and makes it harder to make calculations. The MRAD Ruler is also poorly printed with inconsistent spacing between graduations. There is also a clear misprint with 360 yards instead of 350 yards, although with how poorly and inconsistently spaced the marks are, it probably doesn't make a difference since you calculations will be off anyways. Even the instruction book is essentially a reprint of the MilDot Master with all of the same practice questions. It's easy to get every practice questions right with MilDot Master but the MRAD Ruler with its poor execution is going to give you incorrect results.This is a slide rule with a specific purpose and any slide rule needs to be precise. The MRAD Master fails at that. If you want something like this, do yourself a favor and search elsewhere for the original MilDot Master for about the same price. The MRAD Ruler is simply not an adequate substitute
