Installed the 8456 five years ago on a new 302 and it has performed flawlessly. Just now getting around to replacing the cap and rotor. Ford F-150 EFI.

Well i finally finished building the motor, installed the distributor (8/15) and the car fired right up ran great. Then died wouldn't restart. Then later it started fine went for a drive ran great. Came home, parked the car, went out later to move it no spark. After checking everything to make sure all connections were correct, i test the TFI module on the distributor...its dead. After some research it is appears to be a common complaint on these so i have contacted MSD and we'll see what they say.

Right out of the box this distributor didn't work. Once my car warmed up it was losing power & sputtering when i would hit the gas. I spent hours trying to figure out way & ended up replacing my whole ignition. I put my old distributor back in & my car ran perfect. I didn't put this part in right when i bought it and now can't return it.

Problem is it is not for a normal 302 it is for the high performance 302... on my bronco there is a vacumn connector on the intake that doesn't allow movement to time it.

Installed on my project 5.0. Looks great, appeared to be high quality. Well, it ran for about 10 minutes and died. Simultaneously I installed a new ignition so spent hours troubleshooting that. Put my old distributor back in and fired right up. Swapped back to MSD and dead again, back to old motorcraft and ran fine. Appears that the MSD TFI died within 10 mins of installing. Had to buy a new motorcraft TFI for 100+ dollars to replace the junk MSD TFI.
