This was the best adapter Amazon offered . . . I wanted a "short taper" to slip into my NOVA Comet tailstock . . . Here's what I did: I slipped it onto a MT1 taper Mini-Drive Center, locked all between centers, and carefully cut it with a DREMEL EZ-Lock cutting wheel, to approx. 2.5". Carefully cleaned it up and voila! I have a "shorty" MT! to MT2 conversion adapter to use with old live center set and mini-drives to fit my tailstock.

I was surprised that this came all the way from mainland china. it came pretty quickly too. It is machined properly but I had to clean it up first. There were multiple fine scratches on the taper which would not affect its use - just cosmetic. But there was one deeper scratch a bout 2 mm long that had a burr. That would have messed up my lathe headstock. I filed off the burr with a jeweler's file and buffed the whole adaptor with Flitz polish and green, then white scotchbrite pads. Now it works and looks like it should have from the factory. I had a number of Morse tape 1 bits that I wanted to use in a machine that uses morse taper 2. This was the only source for this adaptor, so I am glad for it. Too bad the quality control is lacking. At the same time I ordered a morse 2 drill chuck adaptor from another Ebay vendor in Brooklyn NY. Same price as this, and it came with a beautiful smooth blemish free finish.

The product is what I expected, fits the existing #2 well and the #1 MT compoenents fit it well. I'm very pleased with it.
