I bought an expensive specialty live center sized for my mini-lathe, with MT#1 tail stock, but decided I'd like to use it for projects on my bigger wood lathe, which has MT#2 spindle and tailstock. This adapter lets me do that. Worked just fine, the MT#1 finial mandrel that I paid ~$40 for slips right into this $10-ish adapter and lets me use the mandrel on my bigger lathe, too. Saved me $30 (compared to buying another finial mandrel in MT#2) and some disappointment and frustration (over buying in smaller size). Plus, now I know I can get other MT#1 drives if I want to be able to use on either lathe for future toys.

This adapter fit my metal lathe #2 Morris taper tailstock perfectly. The machining and finish are good quality. Not something I use very often but real handy when I do need it.

Pretty ugly, looks like someone fell asleep while belt sanding the outer (MT2) taper. And why would one be belt sanding a precise machine taper anyway?
