I got this to scribe boards against an uneven concrete floor. But before I got to do that, this nifty little tool proved itself useful in ways I hadn't thought of before. One was to give me a level gauge to use with a laser level, to find a level contour on an uneven floor. The shiny brass wheel-nut that tightens the pencil clamp also does a great job reflecting laser level light. So I adjusted the height of the nut to match the laser, then ran the tool over the floor in various places, riding along on its skate wheels until I found a spot with matching depth, marked it, then moved over, repeat, until I had a contour line.Of course, you can also use this to scribe boards. The hardware parts are all good quality and the plastic the thing is made of seems robust, durable, and well molded. The height adjustment works smoothly at the touch of a finger, yet holds firm through use (this is the essential function of the device). I paid 2x or so what I could have paid for one of the cheap Chinese knockoff versions of this thing that Amazon also sells, but I feel good about the quality I got and am happy to reward the people who created this clever design.

This thing is great! Easy to use.- the bearing is great- the precision profile tab works great- fits sharpies, pencils, whatever- light weight- you can flip the holder so it faces either side- you can draw circles with itIt's pretty intuitive, but read the instructions that come with it. You might find out some stuff you wouldn't have figured out otherwise.

Made things easier to get a rough template made for boat bulkheads on sailboat. I will be using it a lot in the course of boat rebuild.One con: Markers or Sharpie pens will not fit in holder, pencil is not always satisfactory to mark bulkhead.

This product is great but doesn’t allow for close scribing of fillers. It does hold a variety of pencils every well but is not recommended for any scribes close to walls.

I have the trend scribe which is great for floor to skirting etc. I wanted something better than the needle push shaped jig. Not used it yet but bring a master cabinet maker I can see this will doThe jobReviews saying cannot see if it’s level etc 🤔 it’s down to skill. If your skill level is not as required then use another simple methodI work to 1/2 mm so this I feel is good for the way I workProducts are purchased on here and then the ratings fly in when they cannot do what they think should happen.
