This matte box looks and feels sturdy on my camera. It holds up to 2 different filters as well which help me so much while recording videos in harsh lighting

This is a good matte box. The only gripe that I had with it was that it should have had side door. Sometimes, the top can get a tad loose. But it's still a good matte box for the price.

This is a really well-thought out, functional matte box that has the benefits of being extremely lightweight, with a lot of nice features for the price.I will say, setting this thing up properly, and using it properly can feel a bit finicky... at first. Take your time, go slowly, be careful and familiarize yourself with it and it will all click (literally and figuratively) soon enough. Here's some tips, having worked with it a fair amount.- The little knob that tightens/secures the angle on the top flag can be lifted and rotated *without adjustment* so that you can properly tighten it without the knob interfering with the flag itself.- The matte box fits onto the lens ring via a tension/friction fit via the thumb lever. I found that mine was VERY tight upon arrival, to the extent that I was a bit concerned about how much force I needed to fully flip the thumb lever over to the locked position. I was able to adjust it slightly by *tightening* the small bolt that runs through the spring (2mm hex key fits here), and that helped a bit, but it's still tight (you'd think loosening the screw would help, but due to how it's built, backing the screw out actually makes it tighter). Past experience with these type of mechanisms has me worried that this piece may eventually be a point of failure for this unit, but we'll see how she holds up over time. I may end up just securing the one lens ring I use most often in it permanently in the correct orientation and then screwing the whole operation into place on my lens.- This matte box attaches to the filter ring on the end of your lens. THIS MEANS that if the overall length of your lens changes when you focus or zoom, then this matte box will move with it. The materials and construction are lightweight enough that I'm not worried to attach it to the end of my Tamron 28-75mm, but once you get one or two pieces of beefy filter glass in there, it does affect the overall balance and weight distribution of the camera and rig.- The trays take a little practice to reliably click in and out. To remove, depress the little inset button on the left side of the filter tray, and it will "pop" loose. Slide it gently just a bit to the right, and lift it out by gently pulling the top side of the filter tray towards you. To replace the filter tray, set it back down just the same bit to the right, starting with the bottom edge first (like a hinge) and then setting the top edge down into where it fits. Then, slide gently to the left until it clicks.- You can attach additional circular/ring filters to the inside of the matte box just past the lens, but doing so requires affixing them facing inwards instead of outwards as you normally would. Due to the depth of the step up filter, vignetting will become an issue more quickly here at wider angles, so be mindful.Some people might confuse lightweight engineering with poor quality, but this thing is actually very well made and quite sturdy (within reason). If you drop it or sit on it, you (and it) are going to be sad, but given reasonable use and care, this thing should hold up great.As to whether you really NEED a matte box? I mean, I really wish some clients weren't as impressed by certain visual cues (like the presence of a matte box) as they are, but hey... that's the world we live in. If you work in video long enough, you'll find there are absolutely situations where having gear that looks more "pro" results in you getting treated (and sometimes even compensated) more like a professional.Or maybe you're just getting a lot of top light that you need to cut out. Either way, this thing should have you covered.

it has so many design flaws that i would feel uncomfortable using this with some of my more expensive filters. First off the material feels a little flimsy when it comes to the trays and the way you attach filters to them is via a single screw that you rotate directly into the filter, there's no locking feeling that gives me security also putting the trays on the mattebox you just clip it on the front and slide to lock but the lock isn't that secure and doesn't make me feel as if it would hold up to regular use. also the adjustment knob on the top has nothing to do with how many filter you have on it just moves forward or backward to allow you to close the flag. they come with 4 adapter rings for your lenses and it's all packaged in a box with no carry case. I wanted to get this to replace my smallrig star trail mattebox as this has 2 trays and the price of an additional smallrig tray costs more than this mattebox altogether. however jus seeing how flimsy this feels in my heart I cannot trust it on my Rig

Nice and compact for my GH6 haven't tried the filter trays but have also had a variable ND on the lens as well.

Tras mucho tiempo buscando un matte box asequible y con buenas prestaciones, me decidí por adquirir este de la marca Neewer. Ya había utilizado productos de Neewer anteriormente y siempre he acabado encantado con sus productos, lo que me hizo decidirme por este matte box en comparación a los de otras marcas más conocidas como Smallrig o Tilta es el precio que tenía, normalmente los matte boxes más básicos de estas marcas que he mencionado rondan este precio y tienen unas prestaciones más básicas, como solo un soporte para filtro de 4x5 o que no admiten el uso de filtros circulares, sin embargo este matte box de Neewer cumple con todo esto.
