The spanner is a well-crafted instrument and does not feel cheap. It came with several tips that proved useful and functional. I used the spanner to remove the front ring from an old lens, and it worked perfectly.

This is a great tool for repairing old cameras. Without this tool I had a hard time removing the lens elements from an old Canonet 28 but this spanner wrench made it super simple. It comes with four hand-adjustable screws to hold the pieces at any desired length, as well as 4 tool adjustable ones that can be tightened even more with the included hex key. This tool can also be configured in several ways. The two halves can be arranged to not only curve outward, but also to curve inward. This was especially useful since it allowed the tool to fit into the lens without scraping the sides, and is ultimately the reason why I chose this curved model over the straight one.The tool is all metal and very sturdy. The hand-adjustable screws are enough to hold it together rock solid at the desired width. When a lot of pressure/torque is required to unscrew a ring on the lens, I found that it was best to wear thick work gloves. Otherwise the tool's edges would dig into my hand, making it uncomfortable to use.Overall this is a great tool at a great price and I am very satisfied. I wouldn't be able to repair old cameras without it.

Wasn't sure I'd use this tool enough to justify buying it. Well, I've used it about ten times so far and was glad to have it. Very useful for the camera lens tinkerer.

It works adequately for swapping a 2" multi-narrowband filter that needs to be in an adapter ring deep inside of a field flattener, but please make sure to tighten the crossbar screws to avoid accidents - I had situations when the tips started sliding. That said, overall, it served my needs very well.

I've used several different lens spanners over the years, and for cheap spanners, these do seem to be much better quality than others in their price range, especially the ubiquitous gray steel ones sold by Micro-Tools and others. The main issue I have with these is that the four tightening knobs come off very easily, meaning the thing is constantly falling apart. Half the time I pull it out of my toolbox, having been put away tightened, half of it gets left behind due to loose knobs. This can also be a real pain if they come loose while you are actually trying to change a retaining ring. You really have to make sure all four are really cinched down before attempting to use them lest you risk tragedy with your delicate lenses.Overall, I'd say these are good for occasional work, but if you are regularly going to be servicing your lenses, invest in something a little sturdier.

This tool helped me restore a 100 year old cini camrea. It works, just a lil floppy sometimes.

I bought this wrench to do repairs on old cameras and lenses. I've used it twice and so far it works very well. I did have to make one adjustment: The thumb knobs are too large to allow the arms to get close enough to where I needed them. I used the smaller hex-bolts on one arm tight and left the thumb screws on the other allowing that one to be the adjustable side. The thumb nobs are a little on the smooth side and its hard to get them tight enough that they don't loosen during use. Overall, if you're a hobbyist looking to apply some TLC to your gear, this will work just fine.

I've had the pleasure of disassembling hundreds of camera filters, and it can be less than fun without the right tools. This is the right tool. If you need to remove notched retaining rings from filters or lenses, this should do the trick. It comes with multiple, swappable tips to ensure a good fit with your retaining ring. As a tip, I typically tap a filter aggressively with a screwdriver handle around its circumference before using this tool. It helps loosen the retaining ring, making them a breeze to remove!

This tool is well-designed and well-made.It looks to be made of reasonably-good quality stainless steel. You have the option of two different tips: one has a short, flat blade; the other end is pointed. You adjust the width of the tool using four screw-locks, which work well enough. Can't really fault this tool.
