With Switchback, NEMO has redefined the classic closed-cell foam sleeping pad to deliver more thickness and plush comfort in an industry-leading packed size. This pad features hexagonal nodes molded with our dual-density Axiotomic foam to create Hypnoelastic zones that conform to your body in a perfect balance of comfort and support.
Switchback also leverages a metallized thermal film layer to efficiently reflect heat back to your body. Blend that with 15% more heat-trapping space, and this innovative new design is able to deliver a warmer, more comfortable sleep than other pads in this category.
All NEMO products carry a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materials to the original owner.

The only pictures I have are of my Aussie taking advantage of the switchback but both my son and myself have used it on multiple trips. From spring though fall it gets used on it's own, during the winter I pair it with a Sea to Summit inflatable and I have brought it out well into the teens and slept more than comfortable. Like it's noted, it is a lightweight closed cell foam pad just thick enough to have some cushion between you and the ground with a heat reflective side that is a perfect addition to a sleep system. Definitely worth it.

As far as foam pads go, this one is up there. But at the same time, at the end of the day, there's a reason inflatable pads are so popular, so you've gotta be realistic with comfort expectations. This one is well made, durable, affordable, lightweight, and fairly warm. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's a heck of a lot better than most other foam pads.Neat little trick: I bought a full-size, then cut it down to torso length by removing 4 panels. Two of them got trimmed in half into a square I can use as a sitting pad that can be brought into the tent at night and laid under my legs to augment the torso-length section. The rest was trimmed into a dog bed for when the pup tags along. Three for the price of one =)

Love this. Super lightweight. Keeps me a lot warmer. I use it under The river country original inflatable pad and the two together are as comfy as my bed at home. Finally slept through the night on a backpacking trip! The price was great! It’s super light weight. I strap it under the brain of my backpack and you can’t even notice it or the weight. It feels like nothing. Its nice to use as a seat to stop for lunch or to spread out all of your backpacking gear on while setting up your tent. As far as durability...I’m not really sure what is expected and I’ve only been using for a couple months, so 3 or 4 weekend trips. I did gouge a tiny chunk out of it when I got it caught on a barb wire fence. I also notice that where I have it strapped to the bag it is curving and showing worn/scuff spots where the straps hold it onto the pack. Not sure if I just have it strapped on too tight. It’s definitely not affecting the functionality of the mat or making it uncomfortable to lay on. I recommend! And I’m picky!!

Not As comfy as an air pad, but more reliable and durable. It takes up a lot of space however. But it's light so strapped to the back of my pack it was fine. You can fold it in half of you need extra padding as well. Doubles as a seat too.

The pattern nests really compact. Probably nemo brand is hype because I dont see this being “that†much more compact than others pads in the troop but its still very high quality and very light. Not happy about the straps for it and probably at this price an ultralight sack for it would have been nice but i guess not required.

Is an air mattress more comfy yes they are but you know what air mattresses never worked for me due to durability issues 5’ 9†190ibs side sleeper and move around a bit in my sleep I’m not hard wearing I don’t think and take care of my stuff but at end of the day I use pads. I can’t tell you what the temp rating is but I can tell you over most other folding pads this one is really comfy and feels but more durable. The thickness and design really helps with uneven or rocky ground which helps protect my sleeping bag. Or great if you need to sleep over at someone’s house and they don’t have a bed for you. I prefer this pad over a comfy couch any day to help explain the comfort. Anyways I don’t think I can say much more than that but it does make a difference

The switchback is very versatile. It's lightweight, folds down to a very compact size, and can be used as a seat. R value stacks so this ends up being like 10 R Value when folded on itself and used as a seat cushion. It kept my lower half very toasty. I could feel the heat radiating back to me.It's not the most comfortable thing as a sleeping pad. I have bad back pain and this isn't enough cushioning by itself for me. However, it is great paired with another sleeping pad.

I used this atop a Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest Classic Foam Camping Sleeping Pad and was comfortable enough for sleeping on the beach at a Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) camping site. Slept in a tent hoisted on the sand. I took my 4mm yoga mat to put on top of those two. Can't say it was comfortable as a bed, but it was comfortable enough for camping.I recommend it for its level of comfort, and because it packs well and is very lightweight. I am happy with the purchase. It seems well made and durable. I am 5'5, 130lbs.

The Nemo Switchback is significantly more comfortable than Thermarest or Exped. I can lie comfortably on my side (70 kg ,175 cm) on the Nemo, not so comfortable on the others. Nemo also folds much tighter than the others – precision engineering. Nemo and Thermarest are warmer than Exped because they have higher profile and they have silver metal on one side. I think they are all tough and will last well. They all work very well in a hammock. For me Nemo is the clear winner on the ground and in the hammock.

Looking forward to using it in the UK, but I think that it will out last me, as I watch Xander on YouTube really putting this pad through a rough time, on rocks and wet and dry canoe trips in Canada.
