How to use:
- You need to order a 9v battery separately and install it on the tester.
- Put cables into both main tester and remote tester.
- Turn on the master unit by sliding over the switch to either
ON = Normal test mode
S = Slow automatic mode
- The tester now checks each of the 8 wires one after the other.
If wired correctly the sequence on both the master and remote unit will be light：1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
If it is shielded network cable. G light is on.
Following are abnormal connections:
1. If one wire, for example cable NO.3 is open circuited, the two NO.3 lights of the main tester and remote tester will not light on.
2. If several wires are not connected (3 or more), none of the lights is on.
3. If two ends of a cable is disordered, for example NO. 1 and NO. 2, then displays on: Main tester: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 / remote tester: 2-1-3-4-5-6-7-8
Network Cable Tester
Function by a 9-volt battery. The battery is not included in the package. The battery need to be ordered separately.
2 sets of 8 LED lights that correspond to the 8 pins on the transmitting and receiving end of the Ethernet cable, and a G light for the ground.
- Main tester: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-G
- Remote tester: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-G

Works well enough, and fair for the price. you're only really getting info on if wires are crossed or broken, and then only by paying attention to sequential lights, but that's enough for most problems.

This is a great tool at a great price. Just remember to get a 9v battery. I ran 250’ of cat6 and was having problems with the signal from my router to the node. I suspected the wire was the problem and this tool quickly confirmed that. From now on I will be testing every cat6 wire I use to make sure it’s good. Very easy to use, even from 250’ away from the other end of the wire. Just plug it in and if all the lights light up in the correct sequence you’re good. If not, you have a problem with the wire or one of the connectors.
