A doorbell system consists of 4 parts – A doorbell chime, a push button, a transformer, and the wiring, which are connected all together (see the wiring diagrams below).
If there is an issue with the chime, the chime may or may not be the issue. See below under “Troubleshooting” for common issues and troubleshooting tips.

The replacement is identical to the original. Replacement was easy. Now we have chimes back instead of a buzzing sound.

This replaced the guts of a 30 year old Nutone. It was easy to install and the old cover fit perfectly over the new mechanism, but the ring volume and sustain are not as good as the original. Upon scrutiny the chime plates are identical in old and new, but the replacement utilizes smaller and thinner springs than the original. You can still hear it and the pitch is the same, just a little weak on the sustain. Just the same, I am grateful I found it, and this is a minor complaint. Overall...worth it.

Exact replacement for original chimes. Old chime burned up due to a stuck button. Also replaced the button with Wyze video doorbell.

Our Nutone doorbell was only working with our front doorbell. The side door chime wasn't working as the slow was malformed.We purchased this doorbell replacement and it is 95% identical. Our old cover fit over it without a problem.
