The Nikon electronic cable release came on time, securely packaged. It worked right out of the box. Plugged it intoMy D850 and did a test shot. Worked perfectly. This model uses a cord to attach to the camera but does not need a battery. It does require some care to correctly insert the round 10-pin plug into the socket. Be sure to note which camera models this remote release unit fits.

I am a wildlife photographer. Sometimes, I need a remote shutter release to reduce camera shake or to avoid being close enough to the camera to reach the shutter button. This remote release satisfies both those needs for the Nikon camera I will be using.

I had the older MC-30 version of this remote trigger release that I used on my D800e camera bodies. One of the those releases failed, and I bought this new MC-30a version. I liked the MC-30, but I like the MC-30a much better. It is easier to install and remove from the camera body. The MC-30 was really hard to install and remove...especially when you have big fingers like I have. By the way, I carry several of these releases with me because it is easy to step on one when moving a camera/tripod from one shoot location to another. If there is any water close to you, the release will also find its way into the water when you are not looking. Having spares is the best way to go for such a critical and inexpensive piece of gear.

I’m not certain that this item was brand new. The box was no longer in prestine condition and the plastic bag looked as though it had been opened. Not exactly as I’ve gotten items from Nikon before.It does seem to work as designed and that’s the main thing. Perhaps I’m wrong?

I use a cable release for most of my photography. This Nikon cable release is built to last. It's simple to operate and is reliable. I prefer this over the battery operated releases...one less thing to worry about. Attaches securely to my new Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera.
