I received my Italian glass 5 gallon carboy from North Mountain Supply 100% intact. This car boy comes well protected in a double walled cardboard box with cardboard inserts, packing foam, and a bung and airlock.There is a blemish on the bottom, I believe this is from the production mold used. I thought my carboy was cracked when it first arrived however upon close inspection it is not. There is a hairline blemish that extends across the bottom of the carboy that seems to be perhaps a blemish in the mold that was used to mold this bottle. Perhaps the mold is scratched and it transfers into the glass. So for all of the reviews saying that it's cracked definitely check it before you contact North Mountain Supply. I filled up mine up with water and let it sit for 3 days and there was no leaks plus the scratch doesn't extend through the glass. I can see that it is only visible on the surface of the glass bottle. Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase! I am excited to make my first 5 gallon batch of mead in the future.

Really a great, strong, and reliable brewing/fermenting vessel. Pouring in hot water on top of cold hasn't cracked it yet (fingers crossed). Great size and nice thick glass. I paired it with a rather large stainless steel funnel that just so happens to fit it perfectly - also purchased on Amazon - for pouring confidently from a large pot. My only minor complaint is that the solid stopper could be slightly wider at the top. It is possible to push it down below the rim of the glass jug and into the neck. Fortunately I had warm enough fluid in there that giving it a stir warmed up the air enough to pop it out. All the same, I highly recommend it and look forward to many years of use. Cheers.

I have a bunch of these jugs and they are quality. Thick glass and I appreciate the accessories that come with it. I use them for my indoor plant watering system so the plugs with holes are very handy!
