This camera is basicly useless. It will show you in a general sense what is hotter or colder but there is no way to view the surroundings to be able to locate the hotspot. -I bought t-his to identify hotspots on circuit boards so Im only using it at a distance of 4 to 5 inches but I am unable to identofy wh-ich compoinent is the hot one. Amazon would not allow me to return this because it has lithium batteries so for me that is just another $200 wasted on junk from amazon. just count that with thousands of dollars Ive wated in similar situations on this website. Amazon does not monitor the quality of the products sold on their site and they do not honor their return policies. Contact customer service and get ready for the buggest waste of time. These people literally nspend 30 minutes to understand what you want then right when it appears you will get a solution they droop off and new person comes on starting over from the beginning. It is so ridiculous that it must be done oin purpuse., Why can't I just learn my lesson and stop shopping at this place.

It works on paper. (if you point it at a hot spot, it will find the hot spot.) However, it has an automatically scaling color system that makes it mostly useless (if you point it at a hot area, and then a cold area, they will both look "normal" because the color scaling with change automatically)

You need a long torx bit to take out the 5 or 6 screws. Once open unplug battery from main circuit board. This fixed mine.

I bought this for circuit board repair and it works perfectly. I've also enjoyed using it to find poorly insulated parts of my home. Would I buy it again if I knew then what I know now? yes!
