It works great with hazelnuts. It cracks them open without splitting the nut in pieces. In addition the lid keeps the shell pieces inside the cracker.I also tried walnuts with the same positive experience.

This is lovely, just drop the nut in, squeeze the handle and tip it over - the nut comes out perfect.

We love raw nuts and this is a cracker to go nuts over!! I have to admit, when I opened the box and examined this nut cracker I thought, uh this thing ain't going to work very well. Boy was I wrong. It works great with walnuts, pecans, filberts, and even brazil nuts. Almonds are a little bit harder. You can't just drop it in you need to line it up with the teeth to get a better crack but it still works well. This nut cracker is well made, very easy to use, and has great leverage. It's easy to hold and operate. I'm very impressed with this cracker. I think it cracks brazil nuts better than any other i've used. It has exceeded my expectations.
