I play an intermediate silver Dizhao 501 concert flute and wanted to have a readily available, reliable, inexpensive backup flute that I don't have to clean and maintain meticulously after each practice, a flute that I can leave by the music stand, throw in the car, or travel with. The Novo student flute fits the bill perfectly. Not only does it play all the 3 useful octaves very well (I rarely play the 4th octave) The Novo Student flute also seems sturdy, yet very light and comfortable to hold. The tuning is great and I love the woody tone.This flute would be a perfect choice for a beginner, maybe someone who wants to self-teach, or a doubler like me (plays sax, melodica, harmonica, ukulele, piano) who wish to try a good workable concert flute without putting in a big investment and not having to worry about getting a used non- playable or poor quality flute, then ending up with unexpected very expensive repair or overhaul cost that can be several times more than the quite reasonable cost of this flute. I can not comment on long term durability but knowing instruments well enough, it looks like this flute could withstand reasonable use, and if it no longer works, getting a replacement would not hurt at all given the inexpensive cost and great value.Update: Excellent customer support experience from both Nuvo International and the seller Hour Loop- both responded by email within 48 hours! I contacted both by email regarding the missing tiny lip plate removal tool which was missing- no doubt during packing as the box and other accessories were unopened. I didn't want to return or exchange this great playing flute through Amazon (per protocol) just to get a small non vital part, so I contacted the seller and Nuvo directly. Brittany from Nuvo is sending the missing part immediately! Talk about great service. Highly recommended!

I am a professional musician living in the Caribbean playing nightly in local beach bars. Delicate flutes take a beating in this environment with the humidity and abuse of sand, salt, and drunken pirates crashing into your lap. This flute was exactly what I was looking for. This flute is water proof. I play it in the shower. They (the manufacturer) recommend you swim with it to conjure the mermaids, and not the ones that look like manatees if you get my drift. I love the low resonant, woody tones that come easily even after you lost a lung or two. I have dropped it on concrete from a decent height and it barely noticed being half the weight of a regular metal flute. I would definitely recommend this to beginners because the tone is so easy to produce and they are very impervious to damage. It even comes with a recorder mouth piece that allows beginners to produce notes without having to learn the ambrouchure of a a regular flute.

I have played flute for 50 years. I play rock, jazz, blues, folk, traditional Irish and more. I use this flute for very specific reasons, but let me just evaluate what I see as the pros and cons for general purposes.This is not a toy. It plays well and with good intonation (in tune with itself from note to note). It looks very cool and has the tone of a wooden flute, which is nice. You can leave it out and play it on a whim, which is a big plus. I like the case and feel the price is fair.The flute handles and responds in a manner apart from how a metal flute does, so I feel a nickel beginner flute is best for a beginner.My recommendation for a beginner is to get this flute secondary to a metal flute. Leave it out and keep the metal one in the case except for lessons, serious practice and school. Use the Nuvo flute for fun and to keep you playing every day.For the experienced player, this is a great flute to take out of the house without the concern a silver flute merits. It is fun as heck and anyone who likes to be able to pick up their instrument at a moment's notice for some tunes should own one.So, I'm not advocating this flute as an alternative to a metal flute. Bad idea, but I've outlined some good reasons to get one and as a very experienced and active player, I tecommebd buying one.

Excellent flute for the money. It is very easy to play in the lower notes. The sound is soft as in a plastic recorder ( but with higher volume ). Only problem is the high G# can't be sound; third octave practically ends in G note.

I am, quite honestly, amazed at how good this flute is. I taught flute and performed professionally for 11 years and am very impressed at the sound and responsiveness of this instrument. My wife, who is also a trained flutist, was skeptical but also seriously impressed by the rich tone and how easily this plays. Wish I had this when I was actively teaching to offer my students. Don’t hesitate to purchase - this is a quality instrument.

I saw some reviewers to actually play it. They must have been lucky to stumble upon one that was set up well in the factory. Mine had problems with low notes. I used a leak light to see the gaps between the pad and the tone hole when I pressed the key. Too bad, because I really wanted a flute that doesn’t fuss about humidity and heat changes that would be ready to play any minute.

Toco flauta desde hace décadas y soy maestra de música, realmente me sorprendió el sonido en registro medio y grave. Los agudos son buenos pero hay que ubicar de inicio a donde dirigir el aire. La afinación es relativamente estable en interiores, no la he utilizado al exterior. Excelente opción para iniciar o bien para niños pues trae una especie de adaptador.Por la relación calidad/precio vale la pena en lugar de las flautas de niquel que no afinan y que las zapatillas no asientan del mismo precio.El estuche me gustó mucho y es resistente.Muy recomendada al igual que el Clarineo que también compré.Todos los Nuvo instrumentos tienen un código QR para descargar un libro digital con audios de acompañamiento para comenzar a tocar.Buena compra. Une flûte toujours prête à l'emploi, qui joue très bien sur trois octaves et permet même de toucher les 3 premières note de la 4eme octave avec beaucoup d'expérience. Cette flute à révolutionnée ma pratique quotidienne car elle est toujours disponible et sans grand besoin d'entretien. Prendre, jouer,déposer et partir faire autre chose. On peut sans crainte partir à la plage, à la piscine, en randonnée, en forêt etc....sans rien à craindre. Bravo Nuvo !!!!

Nuvo Student Flute 2.0 blackThe item arrived in the date expected, complete and in good order.I am a long-term amateur musician, playing mainly flute and tenor and soprano saxophones.The flute is used as an always ready instrument for daily practice, saving my expensive Altus flute.The sound produced is good, with much lower projection than a metal flute, which is very convenient for home practice without causing too much trouble to neighbors.I think that is a good alternative for starting the flute playing, and if the interest remains, can always be used for holidays or other occasions where a metal flute could suffer damage.For my daily practice has been very important enabling to play in the available few spare minutes in the day, without worrying with maintenance. As always there is some time to adapt to the embouchure, variable with flute playing experience, but to me it is easy to go from low C to 3rd octave A. The flute is very light weighted, and the mechanism seems robust, and maintenance easy.In conclusion, an excellent acquisition to enable me to increase the frequency of my flute practice with a very affordable price and complete set of accessories.Recommendations: the G# key could be more robust and the case smaller. The flute embouchure can be a bit slippery, but a piece of matt adhesive tape can easily solve the problem.

Ich habe das Instrument nun seit ca. einem Monat in Benutzung. Ich bin Anfänger und habe mich daher für eine robuste Plastikversion entschieden. Ich bin aktuell voll umfänglich zufrieden. Über die Güte der Klangqualität kann ich aufgrund meines Kenntnisstandes nichts aussagen, habe aber den Eindruck, dass mit zunehmenden Fortschritt saubere ansprechende Töne aus dem Instrument erzeugt werden können. Die Qualität ist dem Preis entsprechend gut.Für Anfänger sehr zu empfehlen.
