About this item

  • Symmetrical gripping: The three jaws are evenly spaced around the chuck, providing balanced gripping force on the workpiece. This ensures that the workpiece is held securely and accurately centered.
  • Material: S45C steel's HRC48-52 hardness and 0.2-0.3 carbon content make it ideal for small lathe chucks, providing high tensile strength and wear resistance.
  • Multi-functional: Mini lathe chucks are versatile tools, ideal for turning pens or crafting dollhouse items like cups, plates, pots, vases, and columns. They offer precision and flexibility for woodworking and crafting, making intricate designs a breeze.
  • Space-saving: Mini lathe chucks take up less space than larger chucks, allowing for more efficient use of space in workshops or other work environments.
  • Easy to use: The chucks are designed for easy installation and use, making them suitable for both beginners and professionals.

It's a lot smaller then I thought. It will fit my jet lathe, so no big worry.

I broke both locking devices within the first four uses and had to make my own

It is off. If you are turning anything that needs to be precise don’t use this.

This chuck worked well and was concentric. Just a bit smaller than what I really needed.

It is only 2" in dia. but has .500' OD chucking cap. have not determine the ID cap. appears to be close to 2.0"

Honestly I have not had time to use this mini lathe chuck as yet, but I don't doubt its potential ar all. It's really well made and although intended primarily for wood turning it appearsto be a nearly exact version of the three jaw chuck on my metal lathe. And just like the larger chuck the jaws on this little guy are reversible. The chuck is internally threaded at 1"×8 which is pretty standard for wood lathes. Its range is 1mm - 77mm which isn't too bad all things considered. And at 58mm overall it shouldn't be a knuckle buster or tool destroyer like larger chucks. I've recently been turning Christmas ornaments using both a drive center and a larger four jaw chuck and I'm looking forward to swapping this mini for one or both of those. Each has a purpose, advantages and limitations, but I'm guessing this little guy will see a lot of use.

I've been turning for about a year now, infrequently, so I'm still learning a lot, but compared to my other chuck, this thing just doesn't hold well. Its size is a perfect compliment, as my main chuck only goes down to about an inch, and this little chuck is perfect for anything too small for that. However, I tried putting a small spindle in, after I rounded one end, and with the tailstock in, it was fine, but when I had cut it down to about 4 inches long, and tried to chuck it up without the tailstock and round over the far end, the piece flipped out on me. It was just barely too fat at the chuck to fit through the chuck, so I'm sure if had it wouldn't have flipped out, but it just doesn't seem to hold as strongly as my larger WEN brand chuck.

The jaws are difficult to set I could never set the jaws as per the photo in the ad...The instruction sheet does not give clear precise instructions to use. The tools provided are not explained and for what purpose. The jaws do not lock. The steel quality appears to be reasonable
