any one with a hex screw driver can easily unscrew this from that plastic piece covering your obd and then boom the thief has all access to obd.if someone has the time and skill to break or open your car window. then that person definitely has the skill set to carry that task to unscrew the hex bit.

This fit my 2017 Tacoma perfectly the to keep thieves from tapping into the OBD port. It is held in place by a specialty screw, which is installed by a special tool. It looks like a torx screw, but there's a variation in the center which will require you to use the provided tool. Thieves have all sorts of methods to steal cars, so by using the OBD cover, it might save your car from being stolen.

Locksmith here. This "lock" is not going to stop anyone from using your ODBII port to program keys. For one, this item is simply cheap plastic and can be easily pried off the port (I tried this on my own vehicle). Secondly the "key" is nothing more than a common Torx bit. Lastly, if someone has the skills to break into your vehicle, disable the alarm and program keys, then they most likely can go around this device. I can't recommend this "lock" at all and I'd you buy it thinking that it will help keep your car safe, you are delusional. You are better off cutting the ODBII plug off entirely, followed by tracing the wires to their beginnings and cutting them off there as well. Now that would actually work and stop all but the most determined theives, unlike this plastic "lock", which won't stop anyone.
