The original flame sensor the screw hole was on the direct opposite side of the flame sensor. 180 degrees from each other. When installed the sensor is in the middle of the flame. This product, the screw hole is at a slight angle to the flame sensor. Possibly ten or twenty degrees. When installed the sensor is in a different part of the flame. This is not an issue for my furnace as the flame area is quite large. The product functions as intended for my furnace (395CAV).Product also came with a wire adapter that I did not need.

This was an exact match with the old flame sensor. I was having issues with short cycling and timing out. The old flame sensor had become crusted over. Cleaning it would probably solve the problem but I opted for a replacement (ideally, the flame sensor should be cleaned once a year, at the start of the heating season). After replacing the flame sensor with this one, my furnace is operating perfectly and is quieter as well. I would buy this again.

The furnace I own is a Carrier 58PAV090-16, house was built in 1994, furnace is original to house (25 years old), I moved in in 2017. This product did not fix my furnace problem, and I think I may know why. The image that I attached is an attempt to show that the angle on the original flame sensor (left) is different from the angle on the replacement flame sensor (right). Note that this picture is taken on brown desk, and those two grooves in it form a right angle. The original sensor seems straight relative to the bottom hook-up, whereas the replacement bends to the left. After installed in the furnace, this difference produces a different outcome: the original is directly in the middle of the burner and completely engulfed by the flame, while the replacement is on the top right edge of the flame. I could try bending the replacement, but I know this is not advised. I still give 4 stars because I don't know if the seller is to blame for the following 2 reasons: (1) It is possible a previous owner bent the original, causing me to perceive the replacement as abnormal when really the original is the abnormal one, and (2) I may have just ordered the wrong part. The lesson here is not don't buy this replacement, but rather really do your research before ordering.
O.K.

The old flame sensor failed after the initial heater startup this season. Cleaning the tip with fine sandpaper to remove oxidation got it working, but I wanted a new sensor to have on hand just in case. I installed the new one to be sure it worked, and ended up leaving it installed. It was an exact fit, without needing the extra wiring adapter, and has been working fine for several weeks now. I would buy it again.
