This OEM body tool is used to identify an accurate measurement of how much brake lining is left.

Works on 2004–newer Ford F-150 pickup trucks with 5.4L 3-valve Triton V-8 engines. The socket end is 9/16 inch and the rubber insert holds and protects spark plug. Extra-long so it reaches down spark plug tubes into the cylinder head. The socket has 3/8 In. drive for use with a ratchet or breaker bar. Constructed of chrome vanadium steel for strength and durability.

The tool is heavy and feels well made. I don’t know if it was designed to do a brake check with the wheels on, though.

At my work they require that you ALWAYS place the measurement of the brake pads on the PAL inspection, this is vital for helping determine weather or not I'm doing my job but also allows for a visual display to the customer to show them what 2mil pads are and why it is time for a brake job. so this is a must for the moment.works better for pads than shoes obviously, 3 mm on shoes can be considered to be in spec. and very few cars i work on have +8mm shoes. so the color guide is mostly for pads.

I would have given this 5 stars but It goes from 2mm to 12mm but skips the 7mm, I have to check brakes daily so this bummed me out a little, but great if you just need a basic brake guage.

Brake gauge, poor design as nut would frequently loosen itself and the gauge would fall apart.
