Product Description

CC Mk2 Scratch

Concorde MK2 Scratch

New Levels of Performance

The Concorde Scratch allows turntablist and scratching DJs to achieve new levels of performance with an unprecedented tracking ability and extra high output.

The SCRATCH is intended especially for scratching and back-cueing. The SCRATCH uses spherical styli, as they preserve more of the groove over backcueing and scratching.

• For DJs that require increased tracking ability, the SCRATCH is up to the task. The Scratch has a supreme ability to trace the grooves of the records and it is tailored specifically for scratch.

• Due to its very high output 10 mV, it is perfect for scratch of all music with deep bass frequences. With solid bass reproduction and extended highs, the SCRATCH is great for any style, providing energetic sound.

How to replace a stylus

Firstly lock the turntable tone arm, unscrew the cartridge, gently remove the stylus from the cartridge and insert a new stylus. A stylus is changed usually by pulling straight out and in the opposite direction of the turntable's arm. If the stylus doesn't come with directions, try these: with one hand, hold the cartridge to steady it. With the other hand, using a pair of tweezers, grasp the stylus from both sides and pull. Install the new stylus: holding the stylus from the top, press it gently into the space at the tip of the cartridge where the old stylus had been. Don't force it.

Proper care comprises of the following:

Cleaning of record by means of carbon fibre brush before and after every use. Cleaning of record by using record cleaning machine once in a while.

Cleaning of stylus by means of a fine antistatic brush. Please remember to remove dust from the diamond tip before and after playback of each record. Use the brush in the forward direction from the rear of the cartridge towards the stylus tip and never from stylus tip to the rear of the cartridge and never from side to side.

Proper adjustment of antiskating, azimuth and tracking force.

Options and Replacement Styli

The Concorde MK2 Series is available for purchase as either a single cartridge or a "Twin" set including two cartridges (both with pre-installed styli) and an aluminum flight case.

Replacement styli for all the Concorde MK2 series retains the cartridges name for easily finding your direct replacement.

I am amazed. I swore off analog LPs because of the pops and scratches, and in comparison to hi-res digital, the sound quality. I expected poor dynamic range and lower fidelity. Guess what? I was fooled in a very good way by this cartridge. Ortofon markets this cartridge as a DJ unit. Conical needle, all that backwards DJ scratch stuff that means nothing to me. FIDELITY means a lot to me. So, as a one last ditch attempt to enjoy the few LPs I now still own, I took a chance, enticed by the design which meant no alignment, no fancy setup. Just plug it in and set the tracking weight. It took about three minutes. I put the needle down on an old record and heard it like I've never heard it before, or knew that analog was capable of this quality. A bit on the bright side; that's ok with me. Tracking force is obviously designed for DJ use, a bit heavy, I'm tracking at 3.5 grams, they recommend four, but all seems to be ok. This cartridge is a gem. Recommended! I plan to rebuild my LP collection or at least to see in the future if vinyl is an option, because of the warmth of analog versus digital. Separation and musical detail very good. Good job, Ortofon! Not going to stop being digital-preferred, but this cartridge is a fine addition to play my older stuff in style.

Been using Shure M44-7 for over 10 years and recently made the switch to Ortofons and I am glad I did.The Ortofons track better on S-shaped tonearms and the stylus does not wear the record down as much as the Shure M44-7.They sound OK but not great. I would not play an analog/vinyl set on these. Strictly used for DVS like Traktor or Serato.

Item arrived fast, and it was exactly what was described. I'm not really a fan of Ortofon's needles but since Shure doesn't make needles & styluses anymore this was my best choice. I will not hold any of Ortofon's downfalls against the seller, the seller is just a seller and product was shipped secure, no damages.

The styluses only lasted about 8 months of regular play before they began to distort and have serious tracking issues. I have been using this type of styluses and cartridges for over a decade and they normally last many years . I don't get why these were so inferior? Could they possibly be knock offs??!!
