This is a well made tool that my only complaint is that I cannot move it far enough into the tool holder which puts leverage on the side of the part. This can cause grabbing/catching if not careful. Will only be able to be used in some and not all instances of cutoff, i.e. large diameter is a no go.

This parting and grooving tool is an excellent addition to my micro-shop. It's very beefy and has a far reach for bigger diameter rounds. I've used it to effortlessly part delrin, aluminum, brass and stainless steel alloys. I'm sure that it'll also do well with many other materials.

The tool is a bit too small for tougher material. It would work fine for brass or aluminum. The fact that it only has one cutting surface means there are better tools than this.

Finally I have found a parting tool that I like. I’ve bought countless tools over the years and this one cuts square and fast. I had a long run of tempered steel inserts to make and it performed flawlessly.

I just bought this tool as a replacement for a high speed steel parting tool. This was very promising; however, it only lasted 6 cuts. It did fantastic for all 6 in 12L14, 3/4 inch. The 7th cut was set up identical to the previous 6 with coolant, but the carbide inset broke and damaged the base of the insert opening. Now it will not even part plastic. A better quality steel would be better for the holder.

I am very pleased with the way this parting tool cuts cold rolled steel. I mounted it on a South Bend 9", up side down, in a rear tool holder. It cut smooth and fast. I would buy it again.

Very nice quality however too large for a mini lathe without modifing a holder which requires a mill. The insert also did not seem very sharp.

Only tested on a couple of items (steel and aluminum) but has worked very well so far. I’m a hobbiest, and believe it will serve me well.
