This worked out great! As it turns out I can use it as a push-up bar and a really nice one (easy on the wrist) what an added bonus since I would not use this tool much otherwise. I needed to change my motor mounts on my wife's 2000 Intrigue and was just going to have the local garage do it. I called three places and they were all very busy for a week or so and I asked them to get me a quote on replacing both front and right rear motor mounts but never called me back. My friend Nick said that I shouldn't spend the $500 they would charge, your car is too old just fix it yourself. So I was looking around and found a lot of options for around $100 with shipping. but they were square tubing and looking at the weight most were about half the weight of this product. Well I just got done replacing the engine mounts what a breeze. I was really impressed with the solid build and it is super quick to set up and use. So I don't know what I would have gotten charged but my guess would be between $500 & $750 so I figure with the cost of the new parts and this tool I saved between $250 & $500 on a Saturday afternoon. Sweet!

Good tool, little hard to set up. Takes some time to align properly. Used to support a Jaguar engine while front subframe was removed.

I used this on an E90 BMW with an N55 in-line 6 cylinder to replace the oil pan gasket and motor mounts. Only used the primary bar - not the second leg that would normally sit on the front core support (like good for FWD cars). The way the collars work, it will not let you cheat - the load must be pulling straight down or the collars will twist around and not support the engine. It’s hard to explain as I’m not a mechanical engineer but since the threaded rods with the hook don’t go straight through the actual support bar like some of the other ones you see, things can move around if it’s incorrectly setup. If I didn’t have the hook on the engine side perpendicular to the centerline of the support bar, the collar would rotate and the threaded rod/hook would slip out. As soon as I figured that part out, the motor was rock solid.I think ultimately this is a safer way to support an engine but it’s just a bit different in operation with those loose/movable collars. Also sits quite low.

I purchased this item several years back and finally getting around to this review but this item is still going strong, very sturdy and trust worthy. We use it at our shop at least 3-4 times a week, holds use very well.

It is heavy and bulky to use but will work if you have time to play around with it and set it up. The box it is shipped in is way too flimsy and will tear before you receive it. Important parts WILL fall out of the box and you'll have to call OTC for replacement. Unless you make your own box, you won't be able to return it to Amazon either. OTC has many pieces and parts back ordered, so expect to wait a very long time to receive your replacement pieces. All OTC needs is the invoice from Amazon and they will replace missing pieces.

I bought this unit because the OTC website touts their products American heritage. They go on about all their American factories where they build their products. When I received this package, the very first thing I saw was the label that said "Made in China". It works well enough; I give it 5 stars for it's functionality. But if I'd known I was going to get Chinese built tools, I could have gotten them for HALF the price here on Amazon, and they would probably work just as well. So I'm dinging them 2 stars for misleading the public about where their products are made, and pricing it so high.

Well worth the money. I have been a professional mechanic for over 30 years. By far this is one of the best engine supports I have used thus far. Sturdy, no flex and the attachments are quality. Yes, it is a bit pricey in comparison to what is out there, but you get what you pay for. This support is heavy gauge steel, quality!
