Having a remote is nice because you can stay inside to turn on/off. Would prefer that the plug covers would allow for lights to plug in better.

It's smaller than expected, but now that I look at it compared to the online pictures, it's the same. You have to use the remote to set it up with one of the timer options. Can be programed to turn on at dusk and then remain on for 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours, which I like.If power goes out, even for two seconds, it completely loses it's mind and the lights won't come on again until you program it again with the remote.I'd like a version that remembers it's settings: I've determined that I want it to come on at dusk and remain on for 6 hours, and I'll never want anything else each holiday season. But to keep that, I'll need to keep track of the remote and every time the power goes off I'll have to reprogram it. Which is sort of stupid.

Once I put my glasses on I got the Xmas lights,to come on and go off when I wanted. It was so nice not having to run out every night to turn lights on. Would be great for anything like that
