Slightly bigger than the old heating element, but the terminal ends and screw holes match perfectly. There's a slight bend to the heating element so that center standoff doesn't rest even on the bottom (floats about 1/8"). New element read about 21.1 ohms. Oven in working condition again. Stove is an "Amana Insta-Broil Temp-Assure".

The element lasted 9 months before nearly causing a fire. I preheated the oven and opened the door and there was an almighty blue flash. I shut the door and a blue flame lit the oven up and I could see the element melting through the window. I shut off the oven and isolated the power and allowed it to cool before taking these pictures. The diagnosis is that the element shorted, arced and melted under unshielded current. It was beyond the refund date but the people in Amazon's customer service were very helpful and eventually agreed to issue a refund - so all thanks to them. This all happened within the last hour and I will look for an OEM item next. The point is that had I not known to shut the door quick to starve it of oxygen there might have been a serious fire - particularly if there was food in there to act as fuel. If you have one of these already and it sparks, isolate the power and keep the door closed for at least an hour to avoid spontaneous reignition. Again, this would be more likely if there is food in the oven - be safe people.
