I had a couple other poorly designed salt grinders I haven't liked--difficult to load without mess, a pain to adjust, salt hardened and became unusable.That experience drove me to Oxo, because in the past I've had a good experience with its products. This one exceeded my expectations. Not only is it beautifully designed for simple adjustment of grind and re-loading, but it's also sleek looking on my counter--which I didn't expect from the picture.PROS:Easy to use adjustment lever for grind size, with a wide range of choices and a very nice big easy-to-read scale. Lever is located on the top, where you need it if you are adjusting on the go while grinding.Grinding mechanism works smoothly and lets out a perfect amount of salt--not so slow it's annoying but not so fast you'll end up with the ocean in your soup.Bottom opens easily and grinder sits flat so you can insert more salt when empty. It's also got large loading holes so you won't end up with salt all over the counter. Score!Very sleek and modern looking on the counter.CONSI really can't think of any! I haven't used it for long so I'll update in a few months on how its longevity holds up and whether salt hardens and clogs it.Note: I have read you put rice in grinders to keep the salt from hardening and sticking. I have trouble wrapping my brain around this as...won't the grinder grind the rice into your food? I know it's harmless but I don't want rice in my food with my salt....so I"m hoping this one is designed to make the clogging problem less frequent.

This is a very easy to handle and fill pepper grinder. I have arthritis in my hands which makes gripping and holding on to things very hard. The design of this pepper grinder is very easy on your hands, you don’t need much strength to grind. It also looks great for everyday table use.

The OXO Good Grips is the fourth pepper grinder I've purchased in the past several years. Perhaps my expectations are too high but my needs are: grind peppercorns easily; grind in a range of sizes from fine to "nearly cracked pepper"; adjust easily; hold a large amount of peppercorns; be durable (this means it needs to last more than just a few months of daily use); and it would be nice if it looked good on the table as well as on the counter and, personal preference, operate with a crank. Well, so far I have not found the "perfect grinder" but this one is close.It grinds easily and grinds through a full range of sizes -- for a change, "coarse" is actually too coarse to go through a pepper shaker. The adjustable ring makes adjustment easy but you do sometimes need to try a size to make sure it is what you had in mind. It holds a modest amount of peppercorns. Disclaimer: we use a lot of pepper as seasoning and use almost exclusively freshly ground pepper -- for us, this grinder holds three to four weeks supply. OK, but more would be better. It is easily filled: remove the screw cap--something that was redesigned from the earliest models of this grinder. Durability seems to be satisfactory -- we use it regularly (read "daily" here) for the last five months and there have been no problems. As far as aesthetics -- its OK, not as striking as the Atlas copper or brass mills, but not displeasing. It does not have a crank. It operates by a twist of the black plastic top (which appears as the bottom in most pictures). Ground pepper comes out of the silver end. Not a deal breaker, just not my "ideal grinder".All in all, I like it. I use it daily. It works well. I bought several more for gifts to other cooks I know. However I am still looking for the perfect grinder.

This is a replacement for my original Good Grips salt grinder which lasted for years before coming apart.. the original Pepper grinder bought at the same time is still going strong after many years of daily use. These grinders are robust, with easy dispense and refill

The grind settings are decent, no complaints. The rubber grips are a great idea and make grinding easy. Best thing is that pepper corns don’t get jammed-up like in our old wooden pepper mills. I always had to bang the mill on something to get them to loosen up. Another great thing, is no more pepper “crumbs†left on the table under the mill, because it stores bottom-side-up! An extremely well-thought-out design. Oh, and it comes loaded with pepper corns! Bonus-after-bonus!

Finalmente un macinapepe perfetto!Innanzitutto grandiosa la trovata di farlo "rovescio", ovvero lo si appoggia dal lato opposto della macina (che si trova sul lato di metallo), in questo modo non cadono mai residui che vanno sempre a sporcare il posto dove lo si ripone. Ma perchè non ci hanno pensato anche altri!?!?!La manopola da girare per macinare è ottima, grande, gommata e scanalata.Tutto sempbra studiato per la migliore funzionalità . La qualità costruttiva e la robustezza semprano buone, da valutare poi sul lungo termine.OXO non si smentisce mai con i sui prodotti sempre eccellenti!

This is a far superior salt grinder to the 2 previous salt grinders that I've owned. My first grinder would not grind the salt so almost nothing came out, and my 2nd grinder just dropped unground salt. This grinder has an adjustable grind setting that actually works, and salt comes out as you like. Grinder at the top means it doesn't leave salt all over your counter either. Wish I had bought this one sooner - well worth the money!
