Used on a small diesel heater exhaust pipe. Worked perfect.

Really helped control heat from exhaust where it neared plastic...prevented melting.

My 8+ year old Cub Cadet riding mower tends to run hot (though, I think I've fixed that with new head gaskets) but the worst part is, the exhaust pipe runs RIGHT by the plastic hood bracket. After running for a while it will literally melt the bracket (and ruin the hood, too.) Dumb design for sure, but after carefully wrapping the two pipes (and this kit had plenty of wrap to do a twin-cylinder lawn mower engine) and using the stainless zip ties - I don't have to worry about melting brackets or wiring looms anymore. Definitely lowered the amount of heat they radiated.Note - the stainless zip ties don't work on the same principle that regular plastic ones do; they don't have the little ridges and lock that snaps into place. Instead, there's a tiny ball inside the head of the zip tie that gets forced back into place and locks the zip tie. They can be difficult to work with by hand BUT there is a tool that several sellers here on Amazon sell specifically for stainless zip ties. Considering I have a lot of other uses for stainless zip ties around my property (holding chicken wire to metal fence posts, for example) I spent a few extra bucks to get it. The tool not only gets the zip ties really nice and snug (more so than you can do by hand) but it also snips off the end of the tail flush. To wrap exhaust properly I'd suggest getting the tool, especially if you intend to use a lot of the stainless zip ties. (You'll probably find you have more uses than just exhaust wrap for them!)

My 12-year-old son burnt his leg through his riding pants on his MX Pit bike as the exhaust gets very hot and when he stops or puts his leg down his leg easily touches. I saw a bunch of different kinds of exhaust wraps and his pipe is narrow so I wanted 1" wrap to make it easier. I overlapped a lot and the 16' was enough to go over it twice. This wrap offers some protection. It's not like you can grab the exhaust obviously because the wrap gets very hot but the outer layer seems to cool quicker so it won't burn you if you accidentally touch it with your leg but it does not provide prolonged exposure protection.Pros:Easy to installMetal straps hold wellOffers a few split seconds of protectionCons:Smells like it's burning - still smells after months of useStill gets very hot to touch but won't burn you immediatelyStarting to unravel and fray at the ends, needs heat tape

Honestly better than expected! Cheaper than the auto parts store and comes with a good amount.

Look else where. LIke otheres have said. It frays when when you cut it. I'm guessing that the wrap was originally 2in wide at one point and cut in half. One side of the wrap was nice and the other side was all frayed.

Wrapping the product around the pipe on a small mower engine was real easy. The metal clamps provided holds very well. The product is made from fiberglass, so I suggest wearing gloves while installing. It will leave fiberglass strand in your bare skin.I rate it;Fit- 10/10, ease of installation- 10/10, metal clamps-10/10, heat dissipation-10/10.Would recommend.
