Vine charcoal is excellent for the initial sketch when taking a live drawing class. You can easily manipulate with your finger or brush. However this is not a replacement for regular charcoal. The vine wipes off easily with a tissue and leaves a very faint impression behind. Also, each piece of vine charcoal is used up fairly quickly, maybe 3-4 drawings max.I recommend buying this for laying out the composition, and also regular charcoal sticks for the real drawing.Summary: works as intended but you will have to buy multiple boxes if you draw alot

I wasn’t expecting it to be so smooth, I love it!!! So easy to work with, I love vine charcoal. It feels like good quality. I had fun using it for my school projects. And for the price it’s good too

Received on time and well packaged. Soft black that lays down beautifully on the paper. Great for initial sketching as can easily be erased easily. Very pleased with my purchase :)
